Security Engineer

The data.world team is looking for a Security Engineer to join us in creating the most meaningful, collaborative and abundant data source in the world. This person will be on the team responsible for our cloud architecture, continuous deployment framework and developer platform. Our dev platform team is responsible for the foundation of our production environment, but everyone in engineering participates in production operations.

All engineers at data.world are responsible for building secure applications, but we are looking for an engineer to serve as a subject matter expert and drive our internal information security initiatives across our product teams. This person should be driven to take ownership of large efforts and operate effectively in a self-drive environment. This role is a member of the dev platform team – a.k.a. DevOps – and will also work closely with our Information Security team. At data.world you will:

• Be part of the team that builds and maintains the data.world developer platform, with a focus on security tooling and best practices
• Use a variety of technologies to facilitate secure software development and deployment
• Automate processes required for maintaining our security posture and compliance programs
• Build an environment in which other developers are able to easily create new services while maintaining consistent security control across our applications

Experience we’d love to see:

• 3+ years software/security engineering
• Experience working in a security function
• Clear communication about risk and security principles, potentially to individuals with little to no security experience
• Design and implementation of cloud network and security solutions, especially AWS.
• Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) within a CI/CD environment
• Vulnerability management during development and in the hosted environment
• Familiarity with Information Security industry concepts and compliance frameworks, such as SOC2, ISO 27001, NIST
• Passion for making software development easier and more efficient
