Job Summary:
The Sr. Director of Network Engineering and Security leads the engineering team and ensures the highest network performance, reliability, and security levels in a service provider environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex network infrastructures, implementing robust security measures, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives. The position will report to the Vice President of Engineering.
Duties / Responsibilities:
1. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing network engineer and security professionals’ team.
2. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence within the team.
3. Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
4. Oversee Hotwire’s network infrastructure's design, implementation, and maintenance.
5. Ensure network scalability, reliability, and performance to support current and future service offerings.
6. Collaborate with other departments to integrate network solutions that align with business objectives.
7. Develop and implement comprehensive network security policies, procedures, and protocols.
8. Monitor and respond to security incidents, vulnerabilities, and threats in a timely manner.
9. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure industry standards and regulations compliance.
10. Drive the strategic planning process for network engineering and security teams, aligning with company goals and industry trends.
11. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key vendors and stakeholders.
12. Lead and manage large-scale network projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and within budget.
13. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to define project requirements, objectives, and deliverables.
14. Utilize project management tools and methodologies to track progress and mitigate risks.
15. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR).
16. Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect network assets and data integrity.
17. Stay abreast of legal, regulatory, and technological changes affecting network security.
18. Scale deployment into production and support ongoing network management in partnership with Operations team.
19. Lead the engineering implementation and execution of multiple Product launches.
20. Collaborate and manage relationships with Product business leaders and Senior Executive team.
21. Manage the implementation for multiple engineering transformation and process improvement initiatives.
22. Partner with Product Management, PMO, and Operations teams to ensure successful outcomes.
23. Collaborate with the Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to ensure ongoing strategy and work delivery to key stakeholders meets their expectations and appropriate handoff for post-operational support for product launches.
24. Lead, assess, and approve the introduction of new products, features, and patches to the production environment.
25. Vendor management regarding roadmap, feature requests, RFI, RFP, and RFQ, acceptance testing and certification, deployment, spares, troubleshooting, support, and maintenance.

a. Optical network for non-IP products

29. IP Address Management
a. IPv4 and IPv6 management for the entire enterprise
b. Customer DHCP Infrastructure
30. Performance & Capacity Management
a. Traffic analysis
b. Bandwidth management
c. Network element management
d. Circuit management (leased and owned)
e. Peering business management
31. Network Tools
a. Syslog
b. SNMP based tools
c. Config management
d. Performance management
32. Security Control: Design, Architecture, Deployment and Maintenance for
a. Service Provider Firewalls: hardware, virtualized, and cloud
b. VPNs: site-to-site and RAS (remote access)
c. Load Balancers: hardware, virtualized and cloud
d. IPS/IDS
e. Web Application Firewalls
f. DDoS threat mitigation services
g. Vulnerability management
33. Security Tools: Design, Architecture, Deployment and Maintenance
a. AAA for infrastructure (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting)
b. Public Key Infrastructure and Certificate Management
c. Privileged Account Management for Infrastructure
d. Endpoint Protection for Infrastructure
e. Traffic Analyzers
f. Clocks (NTP Infrastructure)
g. Internal pen testing infrastructure
h. System Integrity Check Tools
34. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
