Job Title:Technical Leader III of Cyber Security Data

Location:Charlotte, NC, Dallas, TX, Knoxville, TN, Palo Alto, CA, Remote/Home Based, Washington, D.C.

Job Summary and Description:

PDU Cyber Security Electric utilities are producing massive volumes of data from existing and new data sources. It’s a challenge to keep all that data secure. It’s an even bigger challenge to extract the most value from that data. That’s the problem that EPRI wants to resolve.

We’re seeking a leader to build and manage a cyber security data research strategy and develop practical knowledge that will help utilities most effectively use cyber security operations data in innovative metrics, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled applications.

You’ll be responsible for helping create recommendations for data readiness including data governance, data management, data architecture and data modeling for data used in cyber security metrics and AI applications.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify cyber security data research opportunities that benefit electric utilities

  • Lead problem-oriented R&D projects focused on establishing data readiness for metrics and advanced cyber security analytics applications through data governance and data management policies and practices

  • Responsible for project planning, budget, deliverables, and project success for multiple projects

  • Effectively communicate the purpose, progress, technical content and value of research projects in written and spoken format

  • Manage project team members to achieve research goals

  • Collaborate with other project set leaders in R&D projects focused on cyber security data utilization for metrics, analytics, and AI-enabled applications and telecommunications

  • Exercise information-gathering skills including one on one interviews with utility resources to collect and analyze information in support of project objectives

  • Manage small to large research and implementation projects

  • Assess client needs, formulate technical approaches, prepare proposals and technical publications/papers, and make presentations

  • Review progress and evaluate results of research to ensure EPRI quality standards are met

  • Manage R&D resources by establishing their job objectives, providing support to achieve career goals, and conducting performance reviews

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in cyber security, data architectures, computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or equivalent experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 8-10 years of experience or comparable work/educational experience required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated skill working collaboratively with clients and colleagues

  • Proven people management skills • Project management experience • Ability to create research strategies and build collaborative projects

  • Responsible for the success of individual projects

  • Works closely with contractors, clients, and colleagues to complete research activities

  • Multi-tasker capable of participating in multiple projects

  • Intermediate technical depth in 1-2 areas

  • Requires little to no supervision

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in cyber security data architectures

  • Experience in management of software development

  • Familiarity with telecommunications networks and data communication aspects of industrial control systems such as SCADA

  • Experience working with external clients on technology implementations or deployment of analytics solutions

The salary range for this position is $172,900 USD to $186,900 USD annually.

This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.

This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).

EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA). EPRI uses the system to check the work status of new hires by comparing information from the employee's I-9 form against SSA and Department of Homeland Security databases.
