The Basics:

The Manager of Security Engineering is responsible for managing a team of cybersecurity and engineering professionals that enhance and maintain cybersecurity controls across Tanium’s managed corporate and cloud systems.  The role will be responsible for scaling and growing the team as needed to coincide with growth of the organization.  The role will also necessitate a strong component of mentoring and assisting team members with growing their careers. 

 The role is accountable for secure development and DevOps practices within Tanium’s Cybersecurity team and will orchestrate and manage initiatives to ensure continuous security improvement through partnership with business partners throughout the 
organization. 

What you'll do: 

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop security engineer personnel
  • Provide oversight of security projects and initiatives
  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls throughout the enterprise
  • Create and track key performance indicators reported regularly to security leadership
  • Develop and maintain standards and procedures for securing Tanium
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders on secure architecture practices
  • Conduct risk assessments of services to identify threats and preventative controls
  • Enhances processes and efficiency through automation
  • Ensure the health and effectiveness of security controls
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams to drive features and product improvements 
  • Embrace Kanban as a driving force for efficient, transparent, flexible work management across the security organization

We're looking for someone with:

  • 5+ years of system administrator or similar experience
  • 5+ years of security engineering or similar experience
  • Experience with agile methodologies applied to security management
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong knowledge of fundamental security domains (e.g., endpoint, network, cloud, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of common cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Proficiency writing maintainable code (e.g., Python) to solve security challenges
  • Experience administering Linux, MacOS, and Windows operating systems
  • Proficiency in DevOps practices 
  • Demonstrates initiative and motivation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team player
  • Person of high ethics and integrity
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
