We are looking for people who want to make the Airbnb platform safer for millions of users around the world. The Security Engineering team at Airbnb is making Airbnb safer by building tooling to automatically identify and reduce risk within our production ecosystem. We are enablers, not blockers, who make it easier for engineers to create secure features. We are looking for a strong software engineer with knowledge of security who can help us make security the default state for our development.

What are some examples of security engineering work at Airbnb?

  • Build static code analyzers that detect security vulnerabilities and enforce security best-practices.
  • Create secure-by-default frameworks and libraries for use in Airbnb application development.
  • Automate service risk assessment and vulnerability remediation

Basic Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience in software engineering, ideally with Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience with developer infrastructure, such as continuous integration, code analyzers, and monorepos.
  • Familiarity with SQL and data visualization concepts.
  • Strong communication skills across organizations.

Experience in these areas is a bonus

  • Experience developing security tools, code analysis rules, libraries, frameworks, or automation.
  • Understanding of web or mobile application security.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to diagnose, reproduce, and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
  • Microservice development experience
  • Comfort with AWS Cloud configuration concepts.

The starting base pay for this role is between $134,000 and $179,500. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, experience, and skills. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb,Inc. can employ in  states where we have registered entities. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware and Rhode Island.
