Join an exciting team focused on the development of the software, systems and hardware for US Department of Defense training systems.  This team is responsible for platforms ranging from the B-52, E-2D Hawkeye, JSTARS, E-3 AWACS as well as several unnamed programs.  In addition to those we’re focused on technologies such as Cyber Security and Live, Virtual, Constructive enablers within the simulation and training environment.  

Simulation & Training Systems (STS) Systems Engineering department in Sterling, VA has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer II supporting our DoD Training Customers.  The selected candidate should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive. 

What You Will Do:

  • Determine what the requirements should be for a product or system based on information from the customer and providing traceability to these requirements.

  • Decide how to capture those requirements in specific documents such as specifications and interface control documents.

  • Ensure the requirements are clear, concise, understandable and verifiable.

  • Trace the flow of requirements between different parts of the program to ensure that all areas have the complete information appropriate to their activity.

  • Ensure all requirement changes are assessed for impact to the overall system and subsystems and that implemented changes are tracked and controlled.

  • Perform verification of training systems against the generated requirements

  • May require occasional domestic travel.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) government issued security clearance-level Secret required.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience with systems design and requirements engineering on aircraft programs.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (Cameo Enterprise Architecture (SysML specifically), digital thread concepts, digital engineering, MBSE with DevSecOps).

  • Experience with security requirements related to government testing.

  • Active DoD Secret or higher-level clearance with investigation within five years.

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
