As a Security Consultant, you will primarily support our clients by providing professional security consulting expertise. You will be working with clients to conduct assessments, review results, make recommendations, and ultimately ensure success of their security program. This position will stay up to date with the latest security frameworks, controls, regulations, and practices. You will be a security escalation point for our internal resources and our clients.
This is a hybrid/remote eligible role with the need to be on-site on occasion for meetings. Successful candidates must reside within Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska or Iowa.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct security assessments using a variety of information such as vulnerability assessments, asset discovery, process review, and risk analysis.
  • Provide support to clients undergoing third-party security assessments or audits.
  • Consult with clients on maturing their security posture by evaluating and prioritizing needs, providing guidance, and building roadmaps.
  • Assist clients with the development, implementation, and testing of security policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Understand and maintain proficiency with common security frameworks and controls such as NIST CSF, NIST800-171, CIS CSC, CMMC, HIPAA, PCI and others.
  • Maintain an understanding of Marco’s managed technology solutions, security architecture, and how it is designed to operate daily.
  • Maintain and contribute to best practices within the organization, including, but not limited to our technology practice groups, knowledge center, and assigned committees and groups.
  • Be a point of escalation within the team to handle and resolve issues. Involve direct management as needed.
  • Accurately maintain and comply with documentation, communication, time entry, and administrative procedures in a timely manner.
  • Act in accordance with Marco policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.
  • Attend required company and departmental meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience with security concepts and technologies
  • Associate degree in computer science, management information systems, cyber or information security or related field 
  • 3+ years of experience with information technology, information security, or cyber security audit/consulting roles preferred 
  • OR equivalent combination of the above

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Industry recognized certifications including one or more of the following: CISSP, CISA, or other equivalent industry recognized related certification preferred. Else willingness to work towards such certification using Marco’s continuing education program.
  • Successful completion of an employment background check including criminal and financial history as well as drug screen.
  • Valid driver’s license, proof of personal insurance, and an acceptable driving record.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of service management concepts for IT and/or Security operations and related standards.
  • Experience with one or more common security frameworks and controls including NIST CSF and CIS CSC.
  • Understanding of security architectures and common security solutions and services such as EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management, and awareness training.
  • Proficiency with business collaboration tools such as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational and time/task management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to perform with little or no direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills in working with technical and non-technical people and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative relations among all levels of an organization.
  • Treats people with respect; Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values.
  • Follows policies and procedures; Completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; Supports organization's goals and values.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality; Applies feedback to improve performance; Monitors own work to ensure quality.

TRAVEL:

  • Occasional (0-25%) travel is required via automobile and airplane, occasionally requires overnight stays, and includes travel to different Marco, client, vendor, and event locations.
