Symmetrio is seeking a talented and strategic Vulnerability Management Program Lead to spearhead the security vulnerability management program for our client, an international food services and facilities management company. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience and a proven track record of designing, implementing, and continuously elevating vulnerability management programs within large, complex IT environments.

This role demands a combination of deep technical expertise, strong project management capabilities, and the ability to foster collaboration among cross-functional teams to drive significant, tangible results. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with vulnerability management platforms (Qualys experience is preferred) and optimizing to improve organizational capabilities to identify, assess, and mitigate security vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive vulnerability management strategy aligned with industry best practices and organizational risk management objectives.
  • Oversee the configuration, and optimization of the Qualys vulnerability management platform to ensure maximum coverage and effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain vulnerability management policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Coordinate and prioritize vulnerability scanning activities, including internal and external scans, using Qualys to identify and assess vulnerabilities across the IT infrastructure.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results and generate actionable reports and dashboards to communicate risk levels, trends, and key metrics to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT operations, application development, and other teams to develop and execute remediation plans for identified vulnerabilities, ensuring timely resolution and risk reduction.
  • Develop and maintain vulnerability risk rating and prioritization methodologies based on industry standards (e.g., CVSS) and business context.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of the vulnerability management program and drive continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vulnerability management matters, providing guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest vulnerabilities, threats, and security best practices, and provide recommendations to enhance the organization's overall security posture.
  • Collaborate with other security teams (e.g., incident response, threat intelligence) to share insights and coordinate efforts to mitigate risks.
  • Manage and mentor vulnerability management team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in security vulnerability management, with at least 3 years in a leadership or program management role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Qualys vulnerability management platform, including configuration, administration, and advanced features.
  • In-depth knowledge of vulnerability scanning techniques, tools, and best practices, as well as familiarity with other industry-leading vulnerability management solutions (e.g., Tenable, Rapid7).
  • Solid understanding of network security concepts, common vulnerabilities and attack vectors, and remediation strategies.
  • Experience with vulnerability risk rating and prioritization methodologies, such as CVSS.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, PCI DSS).
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects to completion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical information and make data-driven decisions.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or GIAC certifications, are highly desirable.
