What we’re looking for

We're looking for a cloud security engineer to help Vacasa's Engineering teams deliver secure and compliant software and systems in the AWS platform. This position is part of our growing cybersecurity team and will have the opportunity to help shape it. A successful security engineer will be well versed in AWS security operations best practices and leading incident response. 

What you'll do

  • Work closely with Infrastructure and Engineering teams.
  • Help design and implement technical security controls - networking, access management, and data protection for our systems running in the AWS cloud.
  • Develop methodologies and tools for threat detection, and lead forensic examinations to assess impact of exploited vulnerabilities.
  • Actively monitor systems and networks for intrusions. 
  • Establish protocols for communication within an organization and dealings with law enforcement during security incidents. 
  • Help develop security gap assessments, policies, procedures, playbooks, training and tabletop testing programs. 
  • Produce detailed incident reports and technical briefs for management, administrators and end-users. 
  • Support internal compliance reviews and third-party compliance assessments (PCI, GDPR). 
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Skills you'll need

  • Experience with security operations and incident response in AWS environment
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python, Node.js, PHP, etc.)
  • Deep understanding of the OWASP Top 10, cryptography, and transport-layer security.
  • Knowledge of compliance standards 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication 
  • Attention to detail
  • Professional experience in security operations and incident response
