The role:
As the Senior Security Operations Analyst, this role will monitor, analyze, and provide recommendations and solutions to security incidents within the organization. The Analyst will be the first point of contact for all information security incidents.
The Senior Security Analyst assists with the development and continuous improvement of the Security Operations program for the organization. The Senior Security Operations Analyst is responsible for the oversight of monitoring security events, providing insight and investigative services for key security processes and security threats.
Your role as a Senior Security Operations Analyst, you will:
Security Monitoring & Incident Response
- Develop, execute and improve on Meridian’s Information Security Monitoring and Incident Response capability, procedures and processes
- Identify security trends and provide strategic technical guidance and recommendations to support Meridian’s Security protection, detection and response capabilities
- Provide intrusion detection/prevention, incident response and in-depth analysis and prioritization of security incidents
- Provide Incident Response escalation support to security operations analysts including analysis and resolution
- Monitor reported information security events on a daily basis, and ensure critical events are immediately escalated and documented in order to quickly respond and protect against threats to the organization’s information assets
- Provide on-call support and after hour Security Event monitoring and response under a 24/7 Security Operations environment
Security System Administration and Maintenance
- Manage, maintain and administer Meridians Enterprise platform of Information Security systems & controls
- Develop, maintain and execute on system & application maintenance plans for all Information Security Monitoring and Alerting systems
- Ensure Meridians Security Systems and controls are operating in compliance with Meridians defined policies and standards
- Working with Vendors and 3rd parties develop an understanding of critical systems capabilities, perform upgrades, and identify opportunities for strategic improvements of Meridian’s security system platforms
General
- Monitor information security data sources for emerging threats and perform in depth threat analysis to identify risks and mitigations.
- Advise analysts on operational best practices and security principles
- Other duties as assigned
How you will succeed:
- 5+ years of experience in Information Technology including 3 to 5 years of Information Security experience with enterprise security system solutions
- Advanced knowledge of operations system and network security weaknesses, vulnerabilities and remediation
- Specific experience with developing, maintaining and managing Enterprise Security Event management systems
- Capability to perform tasks with minimum supervision with the enthusiasm and tenacity to motivate self to meet and exceed goals and targets
- Effective organization skills with an ability to quickly prioritize and adjust style and plan when faced with unexpected situations
- Strong time management skills – able to prioritize and plan workload, to meet deadlines in a dynamic fast-paced environment, and to adapt to changing business needs with innovative solutions
Problem Solving and Decision Making
- A very high level of technical problem-solving skills are required in working with in-depth data analysis to make sound business judgements to implement solutions based on business requirements and industry security best practices
- Determines when to involve senior staff in resolving complex or sensitive security incidents and/or problems
- Critical Security related events and incidents would be diagnosed, correlated and analyzed utilizing experienced problem-solving approaches and skills
Communication
- Strong technical communication skills are required for communications with IT staff and technical subject matter experts, in articulating Security events and incidents across various technical operational areas
- Strong non-technical communication skills are required for communication with Management and staff across the organization regarding security incidents and vulnerability remediation issues
