EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our highly innovative Information Security team do a wonderful job protecting our business, our people, and our customers from these daily threats and you have an opportunity to join the team as our Information Security Architect.

In this role, you’ll join a team who’re responsible for the design, engineering, technical delivery, maintenance and improvements of the systems and applications for the Information Security Office.

You’ll ensure all technology investments deliver appropriate security controls that protect the business and our customers, and you’ll be responsible for solving complex security problems by selecting the best available solutions from a range of technological and organisational components and structures.

The decisions you make fundamentally determine whether Severn Trent can manage its data, information systems and communications networks securely.

Some of your key accountabilities will include:

  • Providing a clear view of the level of risk to ensure appropriate mitigation plans are put in place and delivered.
  • Planning, researching, designing, and enabling delivery of secure IT systems, with objectives like security, speed, scalability, and resilience at the core.
  • Acting as a critical friend to other business, technology, and programme colleagues on Information Security matters, ensuring that security is considered and integrated into all Severn Trent solutions and business change initiatives.
  • Working closely with the Enterprise Architects to create technical requirements and specifications for major software systems and sub-systems.
  • Supporting other areas of the Information Security team with subject matter expert advice, resolution of issues and transfer of knowledge through training, support materials and workshops to help build the security culture.
  • Providing security architecture guidance and leadership at a portfolio level and assuring the Secure-by-Design process for the train/portfolio delivery.

Whilst very technical, this role involves a substantial amount of stakeholder engagement and co-operation with other specialists including external suppliers, so having robust communication skills, with the ability to influence decision making is paramount.

Ideally, you’ll have achieved an industry recognised certification, such as CCSP, CISSP, or a BCS certificate in Information Security Management and be a SABSA Chartered Security Architect – Practitioner Level (or higher).
