Working at Atlassian
Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
With a sufficient timezone overlap with the team, we're able to hire eligible candidates for this role from any location in Australia and New Zealand. If this sparks your interest, apply today and chat with our friendly Recruitment team further. We're looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead a group of teams in our new Security Development team within the Sydney timezone. This team is responsible for building and operating mature software systems to improve the entire company's security posture. You'll also use your analytical skills to make sure we're solving the right problems, partnering with technical, design, and product leaders to influence the direction and plan the steps to get there.
You're a leader of leaders, coaching engineering managers and architects that report to you, supporting them in their professional development to unlock their potential, and encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone to grow and excel. You'll also play a critical role in the org's leadership team, working with other engineering managers, architects, product managers, and program managers to steer the organisation by contributing to the strategy and helping determine the right problems for the teams to invest in solving.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • Experience managing & growing engineering managers and technical leaders
  • A passion for driving cultural change in technical excellence, quality and efficiency
  • Experience supporting teams in driving large projects with complex dependencies and multiple stakeholders
  • A drive for operational excellence and experience with teams responsible for running mission-critical production services
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodologies and engineering experience, not necessarily writing code

Experience in the following is preferred:

  • Familiarity with security systems
  • Strong understanding of how to use metrics to guide technical decisions
  • A demonstrated ability to foster an innovation culture in your teams
  • Experience balancing Ops and Development investment

Our perks & benefits
