The Security team at Lightspeed is responsible for shepherding Lightspeed’s approach to all aspects of Trust & Security. This is a lean, multidisciplinary team driving to be progressive in their approach to security and the security culture at Lightspeed.

As a Security Operations Specialist, you will play a key part in Lightspeed’s continued efforts to cultivate that trust with our staff, retailers and consumers around the world.  With your help, we’ll mature our incident response and operational capacity while building a healthy security culture across the organization. 

In this role, you will need to stay on top of the latest threats and trends that are relevant to us in order to keep our data and systems resilient to threats.

What will I be doing in a typical week?

  • Investigate and analyze a security concern or incident, actual or suspected and recommend security improvements to prevent a recurrence.
  • Help develop and mature incident response capabilities and plans. This will be from your previous experience, what you’re seeing peers do or observations of our current incident response processes.
  • Take on the role of incident hander when incidents arise.
  • Define and build tools to automate and continuously improve the efficiency of threat detection, alerting and response.
  • Work with stakeholders across Lightspeed to understand, assess and manage threats and risks to data and systems, providing recommendations to help us communicate and mitigate these risks.
  • Contribute to defining requirements to meet operational security needs, such as security event logging, audit trail correlation, fraud mitigation and monitoring agent implementation/maintenance and other related security needs.
  • Work with other members of Security to ensure operational security standards are communicated and met across Lightspeed.
  • Handling various security processes and applications including scanning, host inventorying and inspection tools
  • Providing education and guidance on security topics across the Lightspeed team
  • Engage and participate in the security community, and keep abreast of information security incidents in the wild and training to ensure cutting-edge knowledge is within the business.

What you need to bring?

  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or equivalent experience with 3 or more years of experience in the Information Security field.
  • Excellent customer presence and internal communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable sharing hats, we’re a lean hands-on team empowering each other with a shared purpose.

  • Strong knowledge of security fundamentals
  • Deep knowledge of, and hands-on experience performing incident response
  • Significant experience leading incident response, vulnerability management, and security awareness training in fast-paced and highly dynamic organizations
  • Acting responsibly with sensitive and confidential information and appreciate that some black-hat hackers work at unsociable hours.
