About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Stripe is looking for an experienced security operations leader to join our team.  As the Head of Global Security Operations at Stripe, you will lead the regional physical security operations management and GSOC (Global Security Operations Center) teams. You will help develop our core physical security deliverables globally, building programs to support Stripe's as they work around the globe. You are a self starter with the ability to create a strategic vision for the security operations function. You will work within the Corporate Security, Safety & Resilience team, and cross functionally to keep Stripes and Stripe safe, protect our users and facilities, all while supporting global growth.

What you’ll do

  • Report to the Head of Security, Safety & Resilience and lead our security operations function globally.
  • Lead a team that scales with the business, with regionally effective management groups that are localized for maximum effectiveness.
  • Forecast budgets accurately, making cost-efficiency suggestions and managing operations to budget.
  • Reduce risks by leading the team in the identification of risk, development and implementation of effective security policies and procedures that will limit exposure and liability, based on threat models that are tailored to Stripe.
  • Create, maintain and test critical incident playbooks for a range of scenarios that might impact Stripe.
  • Conduct routine and rigorous quality assurance assessments on security operations and critical incident response teams.
  • Deliver and maintain an effective travel risk management program to ensure risks to Stripe travelers are identified and minimized.
  • Lead efforts to develop security awareness programs for Stripes and vendor teams.
  • Prepare and deliver executive briefings and reports.
  • Develop effective frameworks and plans for managing security & safety risk at company events.
  • Work with Threat & Protective Intelligence to provide timely threat and risk assessments.
  • Ensure service providers are effectively managed, and deployed using an effective risk based program operating within a developed set of standard operating procedures. Provide feedback through service level agreements, agreed key performance indicators and quarterly business reviews.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholder teams and maintain professional relationships with government agencies, law enforcement and peers across the security industry.
  • Develop and maintain a set of effective metrics to demonstrate the effectiveness of the security operations program.

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • 10+ years multi-national security experience, including at least 5 years leading and mentoring an international physical security operations team and security operations center.
  • Be an experienced leader with a strategic mindset and service attitude, constantly working towards satisfying the needs of our users.
  • A solid understanding of core physical security risks and threats, and experience in developing effective and measurable programs in an international setting.
  • Be a great communicator and solid project manager, able to effectively prioritize and advance a number of projects happening simultaneously, often on tight deadlines.
  • A highly developed network of resources, cultivated through years of building relationships in the security industry, government and the tech community to ensure your effectiveness in a wide region with complex geopolitical, cultural, and business environments.
  • A deep understanding of business and physical security operations, as well as a proven ability to apply sound judgment and use discretion when dealing with sensitive information.
  • To be able to travel internationally up to 25% of the time, sometimes at short notice.
