Sr. Engineer, Security Operations and Engineering

Job Summary

Vertiv is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Engineer, Security Operations and Engineering to join our team. This role requires strong technical expertise in networking, security technologies, IT technologies, and orchestration of these technologies. In addition to the technical expectations, the Senior Engineer is expected to exhibit strong analytical, communication, and project management skills. 

Responsibilities:

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for:

  • As part of the IT security organization, perform IT security assessments and remediation activities and ensure Vertiv teams adhere to the organization's security policies and standards.
  • Technical ownership of security tools current and future.
  • Manage existing security tools and introduction of new tools by implementing and maintaining configurations and controls that support our security policies and standards.
  • Providing security guidance through project participation - Work cross-functionally with all departments for SME-level security guidance on all projects which have a security impact.
  • Serving as a technical escalation point for all security team alerts, incidents, and concerns.
  • Evangelize IT security fundamentals, tools, and processes, and act as a consultative partner with IT and Business teams.
  • Make recommendations on toolset, process improvement modifications, and production IT security support.
  • Participate in documentation and adherence to security policies, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Participate as a key member in security incident response activities and daily Security Operational tasks.
  • Perform the Evaluation and Recommendation of current and future technology solutions to mitigate risk to the business.
  • Perform routine and new initiative performance/policy optimizations to ensure the balance between security and productivity.
  • Monitor and assess security industry trends, providing recommendations on emerging threats and technologies related to our current and future-state posture.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in information security engineering, with a significant focus on security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, endpoint protection, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Deep understanding of cyber security principles, frameworks, and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in security architecture design, including network security, cloud security, application security and data protection.
  • Expert-level understanding of security skills and concepts.
  • Proven experience in building and engineering security solutions for cloud platforms and services.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills. 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and research skills. 
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CSIM, CCSP, OCSP certifications preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts and familiarity with major cloud infrastructure providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
