Job Description

As a Security Firmware Engineer, you will be an integral part of shaping new security technologies for future Data Center SSD products.  These technologies will be largely centered around industry standards, such as NIST SP 800 series specifications that apply to storage devices, DMTF SPDM, TCG and others. Your areas of ownership will include: (1) research and pathfinding of new / emerging security  technologies, (2) Developing proof of concept firmware that demonstrate new capabilities, (3) Partnering with Security Architects to formulate pathfinding activities that influence product security roadmaps (4) Monitoring and (when necessary) influencing industry specifications, and (5) Collaborate with other Security, hardware and software teams to ensure new security features progress through the product development lifecycle.  This role will require strong communication skills, a solid technical understanding of storage devices, and the ability to do rapid prototyping.    

 

Here are some additional attributes required of a successful candidate:

  • Proven background in developing firmware in embedded environments
  • Ability to come up to speed quickly on new technologies, concepts, ideas.
  • Solid background in storage device architecture. 
  • Ability to provide technical direction for hardware and software component design activities and manage / track progress through implementation.
  • Collaborate with other architects and planners to influence the shaping of future security features.
  • Good communication skills across all organizational functions
  • Familiarity with existing security industry standards defined by NIST, DMTF, Trusted Computing Group (TCG) and others.
  • Solid background in cryptography and/or applied cryptography

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 6+ years of experience in computer science, computing engineering, electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience with cryptography and/or applied cryptography. 
  • Familiarity with security development lifecycle practices. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Well versed in industry security and cryptography standards. 
  • Previous experience designing and/or developing security hardware and/or software. 

Additional Information

For California, Colorado, New York, Washington, and remote roles: The compensation range for this role is $132,940 to $209,760. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
