We are a venture-backed startup based in downtown San Francisco (and since COVID began, fully remotely) that is led by founders who have previously had multiple successful exits. Extend is simplifying the technology stack for the extended warranty industry, in the same way that Stripe did for online payments and Affirm did for the consumer point of sale financing.

What you’ll do: 

• Owning all aspects of platform security monitoring.
• Develop and maintain security operations automation and reporting.
• Develop and maintain platform security observability automation and tools for evaluating tracing, monitoring, logging, auditing.
• Develop and maintain platform cyber-threat awareness/detection and vulnerability management automation.
• Assess Software as a Service (SaaS) products for security compliance.
• Manage penetration testing of both platform applications and platform infrastructure.
• Contribute experience at Security Operations to ongoing improvement our information security policy

What we are looking for: 

• 5+ years of security engineering experience.
• Exposure to EDR, IDS/IPS, Monitoring and log analysis.
• Strong understanding of modern cloud-based security operations concepts and practices.
• Experience with security tools, patterns, and practices that support our platform development teams using DevOps methodologies for serverless architectures.
• Experience with the AWS security services stack (Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, Config).
• Experience as technical security lead for projects that involve cross-functional teams.
• Experience in and/or leading the remediation of incidents or threats with incident response stakeholders.
• Self-motivated, able to take ownership of tasks and see through completion.
• Must be well organized, able to thrive in fast-paced startup environment, must have the ability to approach problems with a collaborative, team-player attitude.
• Strong communication skills in several mediums, working with collaborative cross-functional team of peers and development teams throughout the company.

Nice to Have: 

• Experience with AWS CDK for infrastructure-as-code.
• Experience TypeScript (v4) and related ecosystem.
• Experience with building serverless services using AWS API Gateway & Lambda.
• Experience evaluating AWS IAM configurations.
• Experience with security event logging.
• Advanced certification such as CISSP, GCFA, CISA, etc.
