Your Mission:

Cyber Security Engineers are the gatekeepers of information within an organization, responsible for the protection and security of the systems that store this data. They oversee the network and systems in a security capacity. They execute and plan security measures accordingly. Cyber Security engineers help to keep attackers at bay by implementing safeguards that prevent intrusions and breaches.

AbacusNext is looking to hire a Cyber Security Engineer with an analytical mind and a detailed understanding of cybersecurity methodologies. Cyber Security engineers are expected to have meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, work comfortably under pressure, and deliver on tight deadlines.

As a member of the AbacusNext INFOSEC team, the Cyber Security Engineer will support the Information Security strategy through the implementation, integration and maintenance of application and infrastructure security. In addition to this, the role takes part in ensuring “secure-by-design” practices in support of cybersecurity best practices, industry standards, frameworks, regulations, and AbacusNext policies and procedures.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning, implementing, managing, monitoring, and upgrading security measures for the protection of the organization's data, systems, and networks
  • Troubleshooting security and network problems cross-functionally
  • Responding to all product, infrastructure, and client impacting security incidents
  • Ensuring that the organization's data and infrastructure are protected by enabling the appropriate security controls
  • Participating in the change management process
  • Testing and identifying product, network, and system vulnerabilities
  • Daily administrative tasks, reporting, and communication with the relevant departments in the organization
  • Designs vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits, and provides recommendations for infrastructure and application design
  • Uses encryption technology, penetration and vulnerability analysis of various security technologies, and information technology security research
  • Design and development new systems, applications, and solutions for external customer enterprise-wide cyber systems and networks
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Integrates new architectural features into existing infrastructures, designs cyber security architectural artifacts, provides architectural analysis, and relates existing system to future needs and trends

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems management, or related field
  • Must possess at least one of the following foundational industry certifications: Security+, SSCP, CCSP, or similar
  • Experience in incident response in accordance with industry standards, frameworks, guideline, and best practices
  • Experience with fundamental cybersecurity concepts
  • Skills to organize and manage time to meet all task and project goals
  • Experience communicating complex technical subjects both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Solid networking background is preferred
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, C++, Java, Ruby, Node, Go, and/or Power Shell, etc.)
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills
  • Great awareness of cybersecurity trends and hacking techniques
  • Understanding of industry compliance standards and regulations (ISO, NIST, PCI DSS, SOC II Type 2, CIS, GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Experience conducting vulnerability scans and recognizing vulnerabilities in security systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computer network penetration testing, tools, and techniques
  • Understanding of patch management with the ability to deploy patches in a timely manner while understanding business impact
  • Information security policy, standards, and guidelines preparation and maintenance experience
  • Strong proficiency with common productivity software such as Microsoft Visio, Excel, and online collaboration tools
