Regional Head of Sectors EMEA

The Regional head of Sectors EMEA is responsible for the commercial performance of the Sectors in EMEA, drives local sector P&L targets and steers on risk/return. You are a senior client facing banker which drives the differentiation of the sector proposition versus competitors by reconciling and challenging cluster strategy plans. Within the cluster organization, you lead cross-sector topics (e.g. impact of capital velocity), drive knowledge sharing and ensure consistency in implementation of cross-sector processes (e.g. segmentation). Lastly, you support teams in the region developing their HR agenda.

Anchored in a regional strategy, he or she develops and grows new sectors from fast-growing deal teams within the region. Furthermore, closely collaborating with the CCO and the Global sub-Sector heads, the regional head of sectors is responsible to coordinate and execute Sales Force Effectiveness programs and drive knowledge sharing.

The team

The EMEA sector organisation consists of 21 countries, and you will have 13 Heads of Sectors and 5 Sector primus inter pares functionally reporting into you. The total organisation consists of approximately 225 FTE. As regional head of Sectors EMEA you are part of the WB Sector Coverage MT and the Regional EMEA MT

Key responsibilities

  • Further develop the regional sector strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the overall ING WB strategy and the global sector strategy, to deliver objectives set by the MBB and strengthen commercial performance within risk appetite.
  • Responsible for ABCD EMEA revenues and economic income
  • Responsible for building and enhancing engagement with clients at senior executive levels and further leveraging the network across functions, regions, and products.
  • Manage Dynamic Plan - emphasizing profitable growth in line with strategy.
  • Set and develop long term plans for the region and identify growth opportunities and drive differentiation of customer value proposition vs competitors.
  • Assume the FO B-mandate for Sectors EMEA and be a member of regional NFRC.
  • Direct the implementation of the regional sector business strategy in coordination
  • and alignment with the country Sector heads, other regional Sector Coverage heads, global functional heads, and stakeholders in Risk (including non-financial) and Products.
  • Develop (along with direct reports) senior level relationships with individuals at varied businesses, Investment firms, governments and other financial institutions.
  • Work directly with each team head to increase profitability, returns and cross buy opportunities.
  • Member of regional green light credit committee (RGLC), ensuring that proposed transactions satisfy all credit and commercial requirements.
  • Provide senior representation and thought leadership externally.
  • Maintain robust risk culture and performance of the sectors within the region. Be fully KYC compliant for all PAM & LAM segmented clients.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance in line with ING procedures.
  • Attract, engage, and develop talent and built high performing teams.

Your required experience

We are looking for a Head of Sectors EMEA who has a strong understanding of the WB market & extensive knowledge of WB products and Risk management. You are a people manager that can act as leader in a complex matrix organisation.

Next to that you recognize yourself in the following profile:

  • 15-20 years’ work experience in the financial industry.
  • International experience is preferred.
  • Proven track record of steering an end-to-end organization.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to execute.
  • Wealth of deal/transaction experience, market participant knowledge and proven ability to assist in the winning of new business.
  • Proven experience in developing & implementing new organizational strategies.
  • Highly experienced in complex stakeholder management.
  • Good knowledge/experience or regulatory requirements and risks (financial & non-financial).

The required skills we ask

  • Leadership, track record of managing international teams in a complex matrix organization.

Role location

The role will be based in one of the EMEA countries (specific location tbd)
