This hands on role will help drive cyber security operational excellence by crafting processes, procedures and automation to improve efficiency in our day-to-day incident response and projects. You will work closely on supporting internal customers, ensuring that their needs and issues are being addressed, whilst displaying high degree of proficiency in automated testing and a solid understanding of DevOps practices.

 

The day to day

  • Work collaboratively across multiple delivery teams developing software to build and operate Optus platforms.
  • Drive improvements and automation within the cyber security organization and also across the broader engineering teams to foster a culture of security by design.
  • Support the design, implementation and operation of cyber security engineering and security assurance by design and automation.
  • Support a product management/services approach to providing key cyber security capabilities, supporting product managers in delivering successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with the development teams in the design, implementation, and maintenance of solutions for code, business process and infrastructure automation, allowing the teams to deliver products and services to customers at speed and with high quality.
  • Drive engineered solutions using CI/CD pipelines and DevOps technologies.
  • Support continuous improvement of Cyber Security DevSecOps capabilities, implementing industry standards and new trends that would be beneficial for Optus.

Why you are our next Cyber Security DevOps Engineer

  • Background in Software or Systems Engineering in the Telco or Online domain with security domain experience in sophisticated IT environments including multi-site private and hybrid clouds.
  • Extensive experience with installation, integration and deployment of security automation solutions to improve security posture and incident response capability.
  • Exposure to technology risk frameworks with relevant security experience, complemented with experience in managing IT staff in a corporate, team environment especially leading off-site team.
  • Experience with software defined infrastructure orchestration tools, configuration management tools and continuous integration and continuous delivery tools.
  • Proficiency in a programming language (Java or Python) and the use of distributed version control systems.
  • In depth experience with Amazon Web Services (VPC, EC2, Route53, S3, CloudFormation, APIs and SDKs)
