Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java).
  • 3 years of experience in Android Application Development and Java Native Interface (JNI).
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) Security Clearance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience developing Native code using Android NDK.
  • Experience customizing Android firmware images.
  • Experience in vulnerability discovery and analysis, design auditing, and code-level security auditing.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of security engineering, computer and network security, authentication and security protocols, and applied cryptography.
  • Familiarity with the Linux kernel.

About the job

As a Security Consultant, you will be responsible for helping clients effectively prepare for, proactively mitigate, and detect and respond to cyber security threats. Security Consultants have an understanding of computer science, operating system functionality and networking, cloud services, corporate network environments and how to apply this knowledge to cyber security threats.

As a Security Consultant, you could work on engagements including assisting clients in navigating technically complex and high-profile incidents, performing forensic analysis, threat hunting, and malware triage. You may also test client networks, applications and devices by emulating the latest techniques to help them defend against threats, and will be the technical advocate for information security requirements and provide an in-depth understanding of the information security domain. You will also articulate and present complex concepts to business stakeholders, executive leadership, and technical contributors and successfully lead complex engagements alongside cross functional teams.

As an Android Security Engineer for the Mandiant Public Sector Security Assurance team, you will help ensure that mobile software and services are designed and implemented to the highest security standards. You will analyze reported vulnerabilities, develop software to run on-device, and conduct security audits, vulnerability analysis, design reviews, and security code-reviews on Android. You will work closely with partners and customers to enhance their security posture.

This role includes Security Analysis (vulnerability analysis and design/implementation reviews) and Security Engineering. Security Engineering aspects can include development of vulnerability detection tools (fuzzers, static analyzers, and so on), manual audits of code and/or applications, proof of concepts, development of internal tooling, or engineering work on platform security enhancements.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $130,000-$193,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
