Network and Technical Security Architect

The Network Architect will have responsibility for both the strategic direction and the day-to-day operations of Glanbia's global network and network security services.  This includes maintaining network performance and reliability, determining and developing strategy and reference architectures, researching new technologies and approaches, creating standards and roadmaps, and developing recommendations for migrating to future standards.  This role also works directly with other key stakeholders on joint solutions and holds responsibility for anything related to networking and network security implementation in Glanbia datacentre, cloud, office or manufacturing locations.  

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify current and future requirements that drive network and network security change programme activities
  • Leads the development of network related reference architectures and technical standards to provide road maps which specify future state and how to get there to increase capabilities, agility, scalability, and performance
  • Manage key vendors relationships to ensure network and network security services are delivered to agreed SLA’s
  • Completes technical designs for network and network security solutions, consulting with key stakeholders, assessing impact/interdependencies and leveraging their technical expertise to guide the implementation
  • Provides technical guidance, training, direction and reviews the work of Network team to ensure colleagues working on architectural issues to ensure alignment
  • Lead a team of Network & Network Security engineers including assignment of work, coaching, mentoring and guiding professional development
  • Fosters a culture of cooperation and trust across functional groups through consistent performance and communication

The skills you will bring to the team

  • Bachelor’s degree (NFQ 7 or higher) in IT or associated discipline 
  • Significant previous experience gained directly related in a similar role
  • Experience of dealing with and managing third-party managed service providers
  • Strong experience in vendor management in a managed service environment
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN/Firewall/VPN/Internet access support and engineering design for network and network security services at Access, Aggregation, and Core network locations
  • Experience in strategic planning, road mapping, programme of work prioritisation and capacity planning
  • Thorough understanding of modern service provider TCP/IP data networks using standards and technologies including but not limited to: MPLS, OSPF, BGP, 802.1x
  • Strong understanding of SDWAN concepts and architectures
  • Superior knowledge, skills and experience with Cisco routing hardware, software, protocols
  • Strong working knowledge of MDF, IDF, structured cabling systems, network facilities, electrical, UPS, etc.
  • Ability to work alone as an individual contributor, as a technical lead and as a participant in a team environment.
