We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting and varied working student occupation in the area of Security Engineering for Linux-based ECUs. We are seeking an enthusiastic working student to assist in developing secure platforms for our customers. As part of your work, you will write code for security-critical components, harden the configuration of our Linux ECUs and support other developers to develop secure solutions.

As a working student, you will have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting, develop essential skills, and enhance your professional experience.

 

What awaits you?

  • Design and implement automated security system tests in our Python-based integration testing framework.
  • Contribute to our yocto-based integration toolchain.
  • Improve the system configuration from a security point of view by providing reviews and improvement suggestions.
  • Help other developers to understand basic and advanced security concepts such as POSIX permissions, seccomp filters or SELinux.
  • Write and debug C++ library and service code for our ARM-based ECUs.

 

What should you bring along? 

  • Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields of study.
  • Experience working with Linux (on the terminal).
  • Basic understanding of Linux security features.
  • Experience with Python.
  • Experience with C++ and/or Rust is helpful but not mandatory.
  • An understanding of distro building and yocto is appreciated but not expected.
  • Good English skills are required.
