Job Description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Data Governance and Data Security Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining data governance processes and data security measures, with a focus on utilizing Alation for data governance and ensuring robust data security practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage data governance processes using Alation, including data cataloging, data lineage, data quality management, and metadata management.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data owners, and data stewards to define and enforce data governance policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Configure and customize Alation to meet the organization's data governance requirements, including creating custom taxonomies, business glossaries, and data governance workflows.
  • Experience in implementing data security on top of datalake using AWS Lake Formation or any similar tool data security tools.
  • Lead efforts to establish and maintain data security measures, including access controls, encryption, data masking, and monitoring of data access and usage.
  • Work closely with the IT security team to ensure compliance with data security regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and other industry-specific requirements.
  • Conduct data security assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation actions.
  • Provide training and support to end users on data governance best practices and data security protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing data governance initiatives, with a strong understanding of Alation or similar data governance platforms.
  • Experience in designing and implementing data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data classification.
  • Familiarity with data security regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate data security risks.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
