About the Role

 

As an Engineer in Network Protection, Cyber Defence you’ll play a key role in helping to keep the bank safe by securing to cover Network Security, ensuring that the managed platforms we service are uplifted to meet the bank's current needs and defend ANZ from Cyber Threats with protective, detection and responsive capabilities.

 

You will also be responsible for designing, building, testing, and supporting Network Security solutions and/or our underlying bank infrastructure. You will be working closely with members of a multi-disciplinary squad operating from Melbourne and Manila to ensure outcomes exceed our customers’ expectations.

What will your day look like?

 

As an Engineer, you will also be responsible for the following tasks, key priorities, and products/applications:

 

Tasks:

 

  • Design, implement, and manage security controls to protect the organization's networks, systems, and data.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards in compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
  • Monitor security logs and alerts to detect and respond to security incidents from Stakeholder/s in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security practices into the development lifecycle of software and systems.
  • Lead incident response activities, including investigating security breaches, analysing root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continuously improve the organization's security posture.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the security team.

  • Troubleshooting - Takes part in troubleshooting for service recovery. Provide ongoing support for platforms as required e.g. problem and incident management.
  • Application Level & Solution Design / Architecture - Adopts a vision and plan for application level solution design and architecture for the platform.

What will you bring?

 

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CCNA) are a plus.
  • Proven experience working in a cybersecurity role, with a focus on security operations, networks management, incident management, stakeholder and vendor management.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, security architectures, and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, antivirus software, and penetration testing tools.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of cybersecurity.
