Senior Manager of Cybersecurity Project Management

Summary 

The cyber security PMO is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of cyber security projects across the organization. The cyber security PMO ensures that the projects are aligned with the cyber security strategy, policies, and standards, and that they follow the best practices and methodologies for project management. The cyber security PMO also monitors and reports on the progress, risks, issues, and benefits of the projects, and provides guidance and support to the project managers and teams. 

Responsibilities 

  • Establish and maintain cyber security project portfolio, roadmap, and governance framework. 

  • Prioritize projects based on strategic alignment and resource availability. 

  • Manage interdependencies, dependencies, and conflicts among cyber security projects and stakeholders. 

  • Facilitate collaboration to ensure seamless execution. 

  • Ensure effective communication across all stakeholder levels, including detailed engineering and operational communications. 

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to report project status, address issues, and manage risks. 

  • Track project status, performance, and outcomes using business intelligence tools. 

  • Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to effectively manage cyber security portfolio performance. 

  • Apply Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics to provide critical cyber landscape insights and accelerated decision making. 

  • Identify and escalate risks, issues, and challenges that may affect cyber security projects and propose mitigation strategies and solutions. 

  • Foster collaboration among executive leaders and stakeholders to enable resource demand planning and change management decisions. 

  • Ensure cyber security projects comply with cyber security policies, standards, and regulations, and adhere to the project management methodologies and quality assurance processes. 

  • Foster communication and collaboration among cyber security project managers, teams, and stakeholders. 

  • Promote knowledge sharing and best practices. 

  • Lead cyber security project managers by applying appropriate coaching, mentoring, and training techniques with strong focus on talent development and core competencies. 

  • Apply continuous improvement mindset through post-implementation and value realization reviews for cyber security projects and implement the improvement actions. 

  • Lead decisions and prioritization to sequence cyber security project investments for maximum impact. 

  • Apply system-level thinking to remove roadblocks and ensure successful implementation. 

  • Implement NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0 principles within cyber security portfolio. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, cyber security, or related field. 

  • Minimum 10+ years managing complex technology projects. 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of cyber security domain, trends, threats, and best practices and NIST CSF 2.0 framework competency. 

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and proven ability to influence and lead senior level stakeholders in the prioritization and execution of Cyber Security portfolio. 

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. 

  • Big picture thinker with proven ability to understand complexity, simplify approach and drive cross-functional success. 

  • High level of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 

  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills in enterprise scale matrix organizations. 

  • Extensive experience with 3rd party service providers in selection, onboarding, and performance management in the execution of projects and programs. 

  • At least 15+ years of experience in people management with demonstrated expanded responsibilities and headcount throughout. 

  • Large portfolio and operational budget management with strong financial efficiency discipline  

  • Incident management leadership skills. 

  • Strong relationship management skills with proven ability to lead and influence stakeholders in cross functional context to ensure security projects are executed on time with committed outcomes.
