General Duties:

The Space Electronic Warfare (SEW) Instructor II position is a full-time, on-site position that will, develop, instruct, validate, and maintain course material at the 319th Combat Training Squadron, Peterson SFB CO for the Officer Training Course (OTC).   

Specific duties:

  • OTC course development:  Translate Space Operations SEW tasks into Course/Lesson Objectives; create lessons, supporting course material, and Course Control Documents (CCD) IAW Instructional Systems Design (ISD) processes and procedures.
  • OTC course instructor:  Develop, qualify on, and instruct in-residence SEW course materials consistent with the principles of Instructional Systems Design (ISD), and aligned to 319 CTS instructions, security classification guides, and other guidance as identified in lesson plans; determine and develop course content changes with Task Lead/stakeholders, prepare peer instructors to teach.
  • Provide SEW-related classroom instruction in multiple OTC blocks.
  • Interface with SEW agencies as required to maintain a state-of-the-art training program.
  • Coordinate instructional activities with Contract Task Lead, and government supervisory personnel.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Work on-site – minimal telework.

Required Skills

  • Skilled communicator, experienced in providing platform instruction to an academically diverse audience of military, government civilian, and contract personnel.
  • Relevant working knowledge of principles of electromagnetic propagation and antennas; modern satellite communications network topology; capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities of US and adversary satellite communications systems
  • Possess working knowledge of electronic warfare system capabilities, limitations, and vulnerabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of signal generation, monitoring, transmission, and test equipment operation is preferred.
  • Recent working knowledge of modern telecommunications networks (i.e. VSAT, TDMA, 5G) is preferred.
  • Possess expert knowledge of and experience with operational-level command and control.
  • Possesses expert knowledge of mission planning, briefing, executing, and debriefing tactical space operations.
  • Possess expert knowledge with joint planning, and integration of offensive and defensive space operations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proficient in the operation/configuration of satellite communication signal generation/analysis ground equipment (modulator/demodulator, signal generator, spectrum analyzer)
  • Active or current Top-Secret Clearance and SCI eligibility required.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Completion of Air Force Instructor Course or equivalent
  • Instructional Systems Design (ISD) experience
  • Weapons & Tactics and/or Stan/Eval experience
  • Experience with one or more of the following units/missions:
    • 3 CTS and/or Delta 3 staff
    • 16 EWS and BOUNTY HUNTER (BH)
    • 4 EWS and Counter Communication System (CCS)
    • USSF Offensive Space Control (OSC)/Defensive Space Control (DSC)
    • 1st Space Brigade and Mobile Integrated Ground Suite (MIGS)
    • Space Aggressor Squadron
    • Space Range Squadron
    • Electromagnetic Warfare instruction
    • RF/Wideband SATCOM operations

Education and Required Experience

Education Required:

  • A master’s degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field (engineering desired) or a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of additional experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of SEW-related experience either in industry, academia, or with a U.S. Government agency.
