Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer

We have an opening for a full-time, permanent Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer to join our talented, dynamic team. This position supports a program that provides cloud security support to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in areas such as cloud security architecture, cloud application migration support, and cloud-hosted system ATOs.

Duties

As a Cloud Cybersecurity Engineer supporting Maveris programs, you will be trusted to support the delivery of our IT products and services. In this role, you will serve as a cloud security SME and provide oversight and guidance for cloud security standards across the VA. Typical duties include:

• Analyze technologies and best practices to provide recommendations on the integration of security and privacy elements to the evolving VA Cloud ecosystem.
• Provide cloud security architecture and design expertise and guidance to ensure designs satisfy Federal and VA policies and guidelines across a variety of projects and initiatives
• Develop security architecture drawings using applications like Microsoft Visio
• Conducts research on ways to automate the cloud architecture and security control review process to improve the deployment of cloud services
• Supports the implementation of DevSecOPs best practices for cloud-hosted systems and applications
• Recommend cloud security solutions in support of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA)
• Helps analyze and assess security-specific areas for cloud application migration efforts

Requirements

• 5+ years of applicable experience
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical discipline is required
• Knowledge and understanding of commercial cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy principles and organizational requirements (relevant to confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation).
• Experience with Cybersecurity policy, risk management, and threat mitigation.
• Experience with using the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) to help systems achieve ATOs within the Federal government is preferred.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, AWS Security Specialty, and Azure Security Engineer Associate are a plus
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
• Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of peers and utilize productivity tools such as MS Teams to keep communications and teams organized
