The Opportunity
The School for Advanced Digital Technology  is recruiting 2 permanent instructors to teach in its Information Technology Services program. Reporting to the Academic Chair, the Instructor will professionally manage the learning process of the students and ensure that students achieve established learning objectives to the maximum of their potential. You will use all available resources, methods, techniques, and strategies to ensure student success and outcomes are met. Look forward to working collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported, and innovative in nature.

The Role

  • Classroom management: prepare and present lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstration for learners
  • Inclusion of past industry experiences with lesson planning and effective delivery of course material
  • Maintain records for the purpose of grading, assess professionalism and track attendance in both theory and lab classes
  • Ensure a positive and engaging learning environment and demonstrate use of creative and interactive methods for presenting material and concepts
  • Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
  • Deep understanding of program vision, values, and goals to provide ongoing development and revision of course content
  • Curriculum maintenance and development to remain up to date with Industry best practices
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and continuous collaboration with the Academic Chair and other instructional staff to provide the highest degree of learner experience
  • Maintain close contact with relevant industry sectors
  • Remain current on industry standards while also ensuring vision of future and upcoming technology trends emerging within industry.
  • Provide on-going support, guidance, and advice to students
  • Effective communication, organizational and time management skills

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  • Masters in field (e.g. MSc CS, MSc Information Technology, MSc Network Engineering.)
  • CCNA/CCNP/CCIE Certification
  • Azure Network/Security Engineer Associate, Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent in AWS/GCP
  • 5 years in industry working in an intermediate to senior engineer role, with at least 2 years current experience working in a relevant role:
  • - Network Engineer/Administrator/Architect/Analyst - Wireless Network Engineer - Systems Engineer/Analyst - DevOps/Infrastructure/Cloud/Platform Engineer - Cybersecurity Analyst/Engineer/Architect
  • Professional References

  • Preferred
  • PhD an asset
  • CWNA, VCTA, OSCP, Security+ certifications are an asset
  • Request for scholarly activity and research activities

  • Skills Required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in industry - managing IT teams in best practices; developing and monitoring project plans; driving adoption of methodologies, industry standards and quality assurance practices; promoting collaboration; providing mentoring and training opportunities.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing multiple use-cases of complex network architecture with solutions for scalability, availability, security, performance, maintenance, QoS, recovery and governance.
  • Advanced knowledge of network protocols, topologies and technologies such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, STP, BGP, SSH, OSPF, LAN/WAN/WLAN/VLAN and networking hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • High proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl or Bash for network automation.
  • High level understanding of network security protocols, firewall configuration and VPN configuration.
  • In-depth knowledge of server architecture and configuration in both Linux/Unix and Windows environments
  • Advanced proficiency with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef, and have an understanding of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in cybersecurity best practices - network security, cryptography, penetration testing, ethical hacking, risk management.
  • Experience with security frameworks (e.g. Mitre ATT&CK and Lockheed Martin's Cyber Kill Chain), and tooling such as IDS/IPS, Snort, Nmap, PFSense, Wireshark, SIEM and SOAR.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and knowledge of cloud-based networking, architecture and services.
  • Demonstrate an ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, programming languages, and development frameworks.
  • Willingness to keep up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
