Job Description

As a Lead IT Security Consultant at Griffith, you will provide strategic advice and direction to product teams and Solution Architects to ensure proposed architectures and technology solutions address the University’s information security and compliance requirements.

Reporting within the Cyber Security domain, the Lead IT Security Consultant is responsible for:

  • Delivering trusted and expert security advice to partners across the University.
  • Leading security reviews of high-profile solutions and architectures.
  • Triaging and coordinating emergent IT security requests.
  • Maintaining a current knowledge of existing and emerging security trends and sharing that knowledge with the University.

Actively contributing to the continual improvement of Security Architecture frameworks, methods, and tools.

You will also have:

  • Strong understanding of IT security principles and best practices.
  • Experience in managing and implementing security systems and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard security frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST)
  • Understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements (e.g. Privacy Act, Critical Infrastructure Act, GDPR, HIPAA)
  • Practical knowledge of various security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, encryption, and VPNs.
  • Ability to perform risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Certification in information security (e.g. CISSP, CISM) is preferred but not mandatory

What we can offer
We have two, two-year fixed-term full-time opportunities available, based at our Nathan campus. As Griffith is a multi-campus University you may be required to work across other campus locations.

Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
HEW 10, base salary $136,032. The total FTE package including 17% superannuation is $159,157.
