Your Career

We are seeking a Threat Intelligence Researcher for our Unit 42 Intelligence Response Unit. This team plays a critical role in providing timely, actionable threat intelligence and response capabilities to help protect our customers.

Your Impact

As a Threat Intelligence Researcher in the Intel Response Unit, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Request for Information (RFI) Support: Contribute to an Intelligence RFI process supporting executives, customers, and other Palo Alto Networks team members - Harness the full weight of the company's unique data holdings, along with external information, to enhance the effectiveness and differentiation of our threat intelligence responses - Provide responses in a variety of formats from executive talking points to in depth intelligence reports - This may include supporting high profile requests outside of normal business hours
  • Participating in Rapid Response Efforts - Support the Intelligence Response Unit’s mission as the threat intelligence point organization for major cyber events, such as Log4j, SolarWinds, and other emerging threats across all of Palo Alto Networks - Assist with rapid response efforts including timely coordination across teams, executive communications, and development of relevant threat briefings
  • Contributing to External Engagement - Develop engaging and informative content, including customer briefings, threat reports, and updates on major cyber events - Share insights and expertise internally, with customers, and at security conferences
  • Cross-Organizational Collaboration - Collaborate with threat analysts, consultants, and engineers from various teams and departments within the organization - Foster strong relationships and support joint efforts to address complex threats that span multiple areas of expertise

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Strong knowledge of cyber security threat actors, particularly their tactics, techniques, procedures, tooling, and noteworthy attacks
  • Experience leveraging open source data sets, multiple telemetry sources, and other intelligence information to quickly respond to requests for information
  • Experience integrating cyber threat intelligence into front line response, including demonstrated ability to coordinate with cross-organizational threat analysts, facilitating collaboration, and aligning efforts to achieve common goals
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex threat intelligence information to diverse audiences
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and triage competing demands
  • Proven record as a problem solver in complex and often ambiguous situations
  • Comfortable adapting to changes as part of a growing team

The Unit 42 Threat Intelligence team provides threat research that enables security teams to understand adversary intent and attribution, while enhancing protections offered by our products and services to stop advanced attacks. As threats escalate, Unit 42 is available to advise customers on the latest risks, assess their readiness, and help them recover when the worst occurs.

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $125,100/yr to $202,400/yr. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
