The Security Architect reports into the Micro Focus Cyber Security organization, headed by the Group CISO. The Security Architect is responsible for designing, building, testing and implementing enterprise-class security systems and solutions in the Micro Focus IT environment to protect information against unauthorized access, modification or loss. The Security Architect is further responsible for reviewing and assessing on premise or cloud based Business systems, developing and recommending required information security measures to system administrators and asset owners. The Security Architect has a thorough understanding of complex IT systems and stays up to date with the latest security standards, systems and authentication protocols, as well as best practice security products. The Security Architect maintains comprehensive documentation for current and future-state security architecture.


·       Keep Micro Focus information security architecture aligned with business and technology strategy and up to date with emerging threats and vulnerabilities

·       Ensure that security controls deployed within the enterprise are effective at mitigating the identified security risks, identify design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements

·       Act as interface between Cyber Security Governance, Enterprise Architecture, Business and technical teams of Micro Focus for all aspects of enterprise security architecture

·       Work collaboratively with the wider Cyber Security team and other groups to ensure that all IT systems and information security controls meet internal and external compliance requirements

·       Embed and maintain a set of key information security architecture principles and controls within the design phase of projects and change management processes

·       Coordinate architecture development with risk management activities that underpin the Information Security Management System (ISMS)

·       Develop and maintain appropriate information security architecture documents and records

·       Prepare and present information on infrastructure plans, progress, and resolution of information security gaps to leadership

Qualification, Skills & Experience

·       University degree or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Information Security or related field, or relevant industry knowledge and experience

·       Eight to ten years of experience working in information security architecture in a global business, designing and implementing best practice solutions, including continuous monitoring and making improvements to those solutions

·       Technically proficient with advanced network security and access management solutions, endpoint security solutions, security considerations of cloud computing and related attack pathologies

·       Knowledge of risk assessment procedures and experience in working with security relevant standards and frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, COBIT etc)

·       Technical proficiency in broader areas of IT, including networking, servers, web applications, databases, desktops and mobile devices

·       Appropriate industry certifications (ISSAP, SABSA, TOGAF, CISSP, CEH, CESG, CISM, etc)

·       Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to present and discuss technical information with diverse audiences

·       Strategic thinking and relationship management, problem solving and analytical ability

·       Demonstrated ability to identify risks associated with business processes, operations, information security programs and technology projects

·       Ability to lead technical and project teams that cross multiple business functions as a subject matter expert
