SMS is hiring an Assistant Facility Security Officer (FSO) to join our security team and assist in developing and managing the security procedures and regulations of the SMS Security Program in accordance with the 32 Code of Federal Regulation Part 117, NISPOM and related federal requirements for classified and unclassified contracts, materials, documents and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creation and execution of security policies, procedures, and practices in compliance with Government security standards
  • Process and maintain employee personnel security clearances and all associated record-keeping requirements
  • Understand and help enforce federal security regulations that apply to contracts held
  • Assist in the maintenance of all facility clearance records
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with internal (operations staff, engineers, teammates, etc.) and external (vendors, contractors, government staff, etc.) partners to heighten security awareness and engagement
  • Receive, prepare, and submit reports, to include adverse action, incident reporting and insider threat reporting
  • Maintain an ongoing program of employee security education and training, to include insider threat training
  • Conduct initial security briefings, the annual refresher briefing, and additional briefings as required
  • Maintain records on subcontractors and request DD254’s as required 
  • Verify and track security required trainings for new hires and annual training requirement in our Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Verify U.S. citizenship and process background checks and drug testing for non-cleared employees assigned to classified contracts
  • Work with the team to prepare for annual vulnerability assessment by the federal government, to include self-inspection
  • Prepare and submit Visit Authorization Requests as required per individual classified contract and applicable subcontractors
  • Maintain records for foreign travel and provide security brief before and after foreign travel
  • File, organize and purge records consistent with retention schedules

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) a must
  • Good time management, ability to multi-task
  • This position requires strong organization skills and a detail oriented individual 
  • Experience/understanding of the NISPOM, and other government regulations related to classified programs is a plus
  • Experience and understanding of DoD security processing systems to include DISS, NBIS, NISS,e-App, Fieldprint and SWFT a plus
  • FSO certification/training preferred, but must be obtained within the first 6 months of employment
  • Experience acting in a Security Specialist capacity in which duties required interpreting and implementing requirements of both personnel and facility security clearances is a plus
  • This position requires that the candidate to be a U.S. citizen and must currently possess and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance or be eligible to obtain an interim clearance prior to start
