The Senior Information Security Architect is a key element within the Rackspace support infrastructure and is expected to provide department, company and industry management and implementation into solutions.
The Senior Information Security Architect is expected to take initiative and advise on potential pitfalls that may encounter on large scale multi-platform infrastructure across all customers. Technical issues can include troubleshooting customer solution environments including Web Application Firewall configurations, Host Endpoint Protection, IDS and IPS technologies, MFA, Firewalls and other security modules with layer 4 thru 7 issues. 
As an Architect, solutions implemented are for all customers and not limited to individual solutions, although they retain this knowledge. The Senior Information Security Architect will create and maintain customer loyalty by providing Fanatical Experiences above and beyond customer expectations.  Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Productization Efforts - Should be able to partner with the product teams on developing and maintaining the various security product offerings that the team supports or is looking to taking on for support. The architect is expected to help create, improve processes, tooling, documentation, and delivery on outcomes that enable the team to succeed and delivering a fanatical support experience to customers.
  • Product Feature Enhancements - Should partner with vendors on product enhancements, driving feature requests for the product offering, testing and providing feedback about the product offering to the vendor, and developing training and documentation to enable Rackspace to support these product enhancements.
  • Continuous Process Improvement - Should be able to identify gaps in current service offerings related to documentation, inefficiencies, automation opportunities, training, etc. and work with management to drive improvements in Rackspace various service offerings.
  • Fleet Management - In partnership with leadership is responsible for driving improvements in the fleet management process and should include, but not limited to keeping up to date on the latest security vulnerabilities code upgrades, maintenance, and audit capabilities related to the security services provided by the team.
  • Mentoring/Assisting - Should be able to mentor and assist all team members with their job duties as needed.
  • Documentation - Should be able to create documentation to allow for all roles to execute their job duties.
  • Provide Brown Bags - Be able to create and present brown bags on L3 and below tasks and concepts to the team.
  • Participate in the Interview Process - be able to Interview candidates looking for positions on the team, articulating the questions to the candidate and evaluate the response.
  • Conference Calls - Able to field conference calls pertaining to knowledge and duties associated with their level and below.
  • Drive Technical Development Plan - Racker is responsible for developing and maintaining a general plan for Rackers to improve themselves from a technical standpoint. While each Racker is ultimately responsible for their own success, the architect is responsible for developing and maintaining training materials and suggested technical certifications to help drive the team from a technical standpoint.
  • Policies and Standards - Expected to partner with leadership to develop policies and standards for the team to help drive a great support experience for our customers and Rackspace. 

Person Specification

  • 12 - 14 years of progressive experience in Network and Application Security Administration, Engineering, and Architecture.
  • Continuous technical education - Expected to be in tune with the latest industry trends, security knowledge, and threats/vulnerabilities.
  • Advanced Security Knowledge - Should have a mastery of advanced security concepts to a level where they understand a broad range of attack vectors, associated mitigation strategies associated, syntax, and common evasion techniques associated with them.
  • Associated knowledge should look obtained at the level of CISSIP, GIAC GSE, Offensive Security OSWE, Offensive Security OSCP certifications.
  • Advanced Product Understanding - Should have a mastery of advanced product knowledge of our devices, process, and procedures required to perform the tasks associated with their job duties. The architect should look to obtain expert level vendor specific certifications.
  • Experience in Multi-Cloud Service, AWS, GCP, Azure.
  • Should have experience with Cloud WAF Technologies and Web Applications.
  • Experience with Host Endpoint Protection and Zero Trust Solutions.
  • Passionate about technology and has a desire to constantly expand technical knowledge.
  • Detail-oriented in documenting information and able to own customer issues through resolution.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work under pressure.
  • Demonstrate sound problem-solving skills coupled with a desire to take on responsibility.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (fluency in multiple languages is a plus).
  • Certifications: GIAC GSE, Offensive Security OSWE, Offensive Security OSCP Certifications, CCNP Security, Cloud WAF Certifications.
  • Preferred: any Cloud Security Certifications with combination of, AWS or Azure of GCP or other relevant vendor certifications.
  • Travel: Occasional domestic travel, less than 10%
