The Elastic Security Intelligence and Analytics teams are responsible for ongoing threat research used to develop detection logic for Elastic products, track emerging threats, and engage the security community - sharing our knowledge and capabilities. We’re looking for a new team member to help grow our Intelligence capabilities in this junior role, a person who might have some professional or academic experience and is passionate about discovering and sharing new threat research while helping the security community.  You will collaborate with the broader Elastic Security team, a diverse set of security researchers, data scientists, and engineers who lend domain expertise to work with you to creatively solve security problems and deliver fantastic user experiences. 

What you will be doing: 

  • Work as part of the Security Protections team at Elastic with other data engineers, data scientists and security researchers
  • Track and monitor threat activity via Elastic telemetry and open sources, guided by supportive colleagues and technical mentors
  • Engage in exciting structured threat research to produce rules, signatures, indicators and other deliverables
  • Design and operate data systems that assist with threat discovery and emerging threat detection
  • Detonate and study malware, utilities, scripts and other artifacts introduced by adversaries
  • Actively engage the security community through blogs, social media accounts, webinars, workshops, meetups, speaking at conferences and other Elastic channels
  • Collaborate with security research engineers and data scientists to measure and improve feature efficacy

What you bring along:

  • Some training, prior work history or academic experience related to intelligence analysis
  • Basic familiarity with Git hygiene, repository maintenance and project management
  • Moderate development experience in Python, C, C++, Java, Go or equivalent in a similar language
  • Collaborative, self-starter and inclusive attitude with a strong interest in learning new skills and technologies
  • Strong motivation and ability to thrive in a global, fast-paced and primarily-distributed workplace environment
  • Passionate about protecting the world’s data from attack
