Backend Software Engineer - Threat Intelligence Team

About the department

Emerging Technologies & Incubation (ETI) is where new and bold products are built and released within Cloudflare. Rather than being constrained by the structures which make Cloudflare a massively successful business, we are able to leverage them to deliver entirely new tools and products to our customers. 

The Threat Intelligence team is responsible for helping teams build security intelligence into their products. The team partners with other teams across Cloudflare to help keep customers safe from security threats. The team's core disciplines are data engineering, data science, devops and security. We use data science and machine learning to process large volumes of data and build intelligence into Cloudflare's products.

What you'll do

You will primarily work on the team's ETL workflows, big data pipelines, and REST APIs. You will create workflows and services that ingest, process, and publish data, as well as work with data scientists to deploy ML models. You will use and learn a wide variety of tools and systems, including: Python, Go, Postgres databases, ClickHouse databases, Kafka, Airflow, Kubernetes and Helm.

A qualified candidate has

• Very strong experience in data engineering and ETL workflows
• Experience building APIs using Object-Oriented languages and SQL databases
• Experience deploying and operating services in a 24x7 environment
• Experience shipping high-quality software in a fast-paced environment
• Experience or demonstrated interest in computer and network security
• Experience or interest in machine learning
