The Role
As the Associate Security Engineer, you will be part of the Veeva SecOps team that helps secure the technology that enables the business.  In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and responding to security events to identify potential cyber threats utilizing various tools and technologies.  You will take an active role in developing and managing security tools, processes, and procedures. You will be part of a team responsible for responding to and investigating security alerts and incidents.  We are looking for a strong communicator with an innovative spirit and technical aptitude who is passionate about cyber security, automation, and technology. What You'll Do

  • Monitoring outputs from security tools and escalating potential security events.
  • Conduct host, network, and log analysis in support of incident response investigations. 
  • Develop scripts, tools, and/or methodologies to enhance Veeva’s processes and procedures. 
  • Design, build, and maintain security tools that support host, network, identity access, runtime applications, and infrastructure.
  • Proactively identify, contain, remediate, respond, and communicate security incidents.
  • Assist in the evaluation of new risks and threats, development, implementation, communication, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the IT Security Policies.
  • Monitoring vulnerability reports and escalating to responsible teams for resolution.
  • Assist in the building and maintaining of automation, scripts, repositories, and KPI’s/Metrics.

Requirements

  • Breadth of knowledge in endpoint and network security, SIEM, IDS, cloud infrastructure, vulnerability management, and operating system functionality
  • Understanding of common attack vectors, phishing, web application attacks, and ransomware.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP stack, Web-Application architecture, encryption fundamentalism, and OWASP Top 10
  • Understanding of basic concepts in Information Security
  • Expertise with Host operating systems (Linux, Windows, Mac)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and investigative techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to take ownership and set direction
  • Ability to work a rotational on-call schedule
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Able to multi-task and deliver consistently on deadlines

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Python/Perl or other scripting languages for automation
  • Experience in log analysis, Security Event Correlation, and SIEM technology
  • Expertise in Incident Response and signature development
  • Experience with cloud security design and tools
  • Experience with log analytics and writing security alert queries
  • Experience in Web App and Network pen testing
  • Desire to identify and implement automation opportunities
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in relevant field
  • Security Certifications such as (Security +, Cloud, SANS)
