We are looking for a SHAPE/Akamai Security Engineer to join a high-visibility Cybersecurity Engineering team with our government customer. This opportunity is currently remote due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This could change in the future, and candidates may be expected to work on-site. Qualified candidates should live within a commutable distance from Morrisville, NC.

What You'll Do

As part of this CISO Engineering Team, you will:

  • Work closely with management to make recommendations and prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities across a broad customer
  • Manage business and vendor relationships
  • Help to develop and document procedural guides, SOPs, and process flows for the functions performed
  • Contribute to the development of re-engineering methods to improve processes, reduce risks, increase controls and/or increase customer satisfaction
  • Provide development support for the expansion and implementation of new systems
  • Work closely with other cybersecurity groups to coordinate and de-conflict protective measures
  • Work closely with stakeholders to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot Shape / Akamai web application firewall appliances across select customer applications and ensure its peak performance
  • Monitor and interpret traffic analytics to help identify malicious traffic
  • Analyze and interpret raw data using Splunk and other analytic tools to and statistical techniques to identify trends and patterns and provide ongoing insight and visibility to management
  • Provide ongoing support to existing monitoring capabilities and data collection systems

Requirements

Education + Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computers or other business related major; or equivalent experience
  • At least 3-4 years’ experience in data, or operational analysis
  • Ability to effectively review existing firewall rules for compliance, efficiency, and accuracy
  • Demonstrated experience with problem and project management
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with business intelligence software, databases (SQL etc)
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing large datasets
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Experience in a very large enterprise environment
  • Understanding of working with a complex network is a plus
  • Possess strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Familiarity with network discovery

Industry Certifications

One or more of the following certifications is preferred:

  • CompTIA Security +
  • CompTIA Network+
  • CISSP
  • CCNA
  • CCNP

Security Clearance Requirements

  • This job will require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain Public Trust (or higher) government clearance. Active USPS Sensitive clearance preferred.
