Astranis is looking for an IT Security Engineer to join our IT team. You will help define, implement, and manage the security measures used to monitor and protect our information systems and sensitive data - all in compliance with any applicable security frameworks.
We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of security best practices and the ability to ensure security implementations are scalable. Someone who is looking for the opportunity to grow and develop their skills in a complex technical environment that includes satellite ground stations!

Role

  • Generate and maintain procedures and processes that ensure the security and integrity of infrastructure, information, and applications
  • Perform day-to-day administration of the Information Security program and understanding the security design, consultation, and technology implementation for various customer projects and initiatives
  • Take appropriate action based on the results of regular audits, risk analyses, vulnerability and compliance scans, pen testing results, monitoring, and other threats to security. 
  • Document and evaluate audit results in order to create a plan to remediate gaps in security coverage and patch vulnerabilitiesCreate security reports, recommendations, and policies that the organization can act on
  • Ensure compliance with all legal and security requirements
  • Handle any and all incidents related to cybersecurity that may arise
  • Stay up to date with the latest security trends, technologies, and exploits to ensure the company patches any vulnerabilities as soon as possible
  • Work closely with other IT staff to ensure implemented technologies are compliant with company security goals and obligations
  • Create processes and reports that will provide oversight into Continuous Monitoring and assessment activities
  • Responsible for successful completion of all steps in the Risk Management Framework process, to include resolving any tasks listed in the Plan of Action and Milestones

Requirements

  • The ability to perform the duties of the role as described aboveAt least one IT security certification (e.g., CISSP)
  • Working knowledge of Cybersecurity laws, standards, policies, and procedures including but not limited to FISMA, NIST 800, DoDI 8500.01, ISO 27000, GDPR, and the NIST Risk Management framework
  • Experience with system engineering and security engineering
  • Experience across multiple areas of security including physical, network, encryption, access, authentication, etc
  • Experience with, and a deep understanding of, Windows, MacOS, and Ubuntu
  • Knowledge of best practices related to securing cloud environments such as AWS and Azure/Microsoft 365
  • Comfortable with deployments of infrastructure and systems
  • Able to identify security vulnerabilities and risks
  • Able to explain the organizational impact of recommended security measures in a clear and succinct way to non-technical staff
  • Able to perform duties autonomously without much supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Bonus

  • Active US Government security clearance
  • Any additional DoD 8570 (Level II or III)
  • IT Security certifications such as CISA, CISSP, or CySA
  • Knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Previous experience with information technology systems supporting satellite development and operations
