PERSONNEL SECURITY OFFICER

SpaceX is looking for a cleared personnel security officer to join its National Security Programs (NSP) team. This well-rounded industrial security professional will provide support for our growing organization with a specific focus on personnel security (PERSEC).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The selected candidate will be responsible for all aspects of personnel security (PERSEC), including but not limited to the PERSEC fundamentals below:

  • Conduct pre-screenings
  • Initiate security clearances
  • Assist employees with completing security applications
  • Review, track, monitor clearance statuses, and report progress to program managers
  • Establish and maintain employee security files
  • Fingerprinting
  • Process incoming and outgoing visit requests
  • Report personal status changes, foreign travel, foreign contacts, and adverse information as required for cleared employees
  • Support the NSP’s Security Awareness Education Program

The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between the clearance candidate(s), Program Security Officer, program manager, and government sponsor throughout the clearance process. Additional duties will include:

  • Data entry and the management of personnel clearance systems
  • Reporting specific to personnel security
  • Preparing for audits/inspections
  • Incident reporting
  • Cleared visitor management

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Prior personnel or industrial security experience
  • Experience with JPAS/DISS, NISS, NCAISS, eQIP, JADE, or other government databases
  • Active Top Secret or Top Secret SCI clearance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree
  • 5+ years of security related experience
  • 3+ years industrial security experience, preferably in a multiple customer environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to plan, schedule, and arrange activities to accomplish objectives
  • Experience with personnel security in an SCI or SAP environment
  • Current polygraph within the last 5 years
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Favorable completion of a U.S. Government polygraph pursuant to employment if no current polygraph is held
  • An active clearance may provide the opportunity for you to work on sensitive SpaceX missions; if so, you will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug and alcohol testing
  • Ability to travel in support of programmatic requirements to other SpaceX locations or customer sites

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
