The Role:
Amazon devices is is looking for an expert Security Engineer to work on security for satellite-related projects. The role will ensure that our applications are designed and implemented to the highest standards thus maintaining and enhancing customer trust. If you enjoy analyzing devices, applications, and services from a security perspective, and you are skilled at identifying vulnerabilities, this position will provide you with a challenging and rewarding opportunity. You will participate in the secure design of new products and features, vulnerability analysis of applications and devices, work with developers to resolve security issues, and build tools for security automation.
In this role, you will:
· Perform threat modelling on product designs to ensure security risks are tracked and mitigated
· Review government cybersecurity compliance documents required for satellite systems
· Participate in compliance discussions with internal teams and external partners to ensure our products meet security requirements
· Hands-on analysis of products to identify vulnerabilities and assess risk
· Work with internal teams and partners to fix vulnerabilities
· Collaborate with product teams to develop new features with an eye on security
· Perform security reviews
· Evaluate and recommend new security tooling and technologies
· Develop technologies for automated vulnerability detection
· Participate in security operations support and incident response
· Develop and interpret security policies and procedures
· Develop and deliver general security awareness training

Basic Qualifications


· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field


Preferred Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
· Experience with security engineering, system and network security, authentication and security protocols, cryptography, and application security
· 1+ years of experience working to secure satellites and ground base stations
· Knowledge of government requirements for space hardware (e.g., Space Policy-Directive 5)
· Experience with the application of threat modeling or other risk identification techniques
· Experience with embedded operating systems and hardware design
· Experience with service-oriented architecture and web services security
· Detailed knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques including penetration testing and the development of exploits
· Software development experience in Java, C, and C++
· Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Ruby
· Knowledge of network and web related protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols)
