As a Security Analyst, you will be implementing, configuring and /or administer security mechanisms that support Applyboard’s security strategy, security policy and business objectives. You will be working under the direction of Director of Security. You will be entrusted with the sacred duty of protecting the data for millions of students globally! 
You will be responsible for pre-release security stance verification on software development, application implementation, and system configurations. Review current and proposed technology systems to determine security risks, recommend and develop mitigation strategies. Liaise with all teams as required to ensure security requirements are included in the project plans Monitor, audit and record and alert on actual and potential security risks

What you’ll be doing every day:

  • Investigate and respond to security incidents
  • Able to tune correlation rules and outcomes via security information and event management (SIEM) and security orchestration, automation, and
  • response (SOAR) platforms
  • Monitor networks and cloud systems for potential threats
  • Review and triage information security alerts, provide analysis, determine and track remediation, and escalate as appropriate
  • Detect and respond to malicious behavior on cloud systems, SaaS, workstations, servers, and networks
  • Manage and support the log collection, security scanning, intrusion detection, content filtering, and other security-related systems
  • Actively research, evaluate, and drive next generation security technologies
  • and solutions to solve the organizations needs
  • Familiarity with Linux and Windows capabilities and with network and host based forensic processes
  • Familiarity of the investigation of malware and host compromise incidents
  • Understanding of intrusion detection systems, web application firewalls, and
  • IP reputation systems
  • Technical understanding of current cybersecurity threats and trends
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and resolve inquiries 

What you bring to the table:

  • 5+ years of relevant security experience
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Security, Business,
  • Management, Information Technology, or related field
  • Practical experience with deployment and/or operation of commonly used information security solutions
  • Prior experience with secure software development, data protection, cryptography, key management, identity and access management (IAM), network security (VPNs) within SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud environments
  • Strong knowledge of current security threats, techniques, and landscape, with a dedicated and self-driven desire to research and learn more about the information security landscape
  • Review and triage experience with SIEM, endpoint detection and response tools
  • Previous experience with LogRhythm is an advantageous
  • Experience and knowledge related to the configuration and maintenance of security monitoring and reporting platforms
