We’re building our Security Research practice and looking for a leader. As a Head of Secuirty Research, you and your team will help protect the global business community - and importantly, our customers - by exposing new email threat tactics, identifying trends in user behavior and investigating known threats through continuous analysis of Tessian platform data and research into global hacking activities.
The output of your work will be used by our product and engineering teams to bolster our platform and build new capabilities. Your research will also fuel marketing and communications activities by positioning Tessian as a thought-leader in the industry. We’re looking for a smart, self-motivated, technical and curious person to join our team and help build out this critical function.

Please note: we require Security / CyberSecurity experience for this position

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll get to:

  • Manage & lead the Security Research team - be responsible for hiring, training, and ongoing team coaching & development
  • Working in close collaboration with Data Science, Product teams, Marketing teams and our CISO to ensure research 1) is appropriately fed back into product development and 2) is appropriately communicated and promoted publicly
  • Magnify our unique dataset into intelligence to enable Tessian Communities (prospects and customers)
  • Researching and authoring threat reports (and more), delivered as compelling presentations and written in plain English
  • Ability to represent highly technical research and threat information to a range of audiences

We’d love to meet someone who:

  • 6 plus years experience as a full time intel analyst, incident responder,  or similar role
  • A passion for- and domain knowledge in cybersecurity, including the ability to speak with authority on the broad threat landscape, and in detail on email-based threats, exploits and threat actors, and incident analysis. Knowledge of other technologies such as networking, internet technologies, and web servers is nice-to-have.
  • Hands on data analysis skills and fluency in a development language (preferably Python) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills suitable for varied audiences including both management and technical
