Summary Rackspace Elastic Engineering is a new service model designed to help customers build and operate modern cloud environments.  While many traditional managed security services are fixed scope and focused solely on monitoring and infrastructure operations, Rackspace Elastic Engineering for Security is intended to help customers embrace a cloud centric approach to security while delivering ongoing innovation, modernization, and transformation in addition to 24x7x365 security operations. The Cloud Security Architect and Pod Lead acts as technical and administrative leader for a team of security engineers and architects delivering advanced security services to Rackspace customers.  This role is responsible for demonstrating security thought leadership to customers in helping them plan and execute security strategies, tactical tasks, and remediation within their cloud and on premises environments.  The Cloud Security Architect and Pod Lead coordinates the efforts of the team, in cooperation with a Rackspace engagement manager and wider account management.  This role is expected to be interactive with customers both pre and post sales, helping articulate and achieve customer objectives through the implementation and management of security technology and operational processes.  The Rackspace Elastic Engineering delivery model provides high customer affinity and allows the Cloud Security Architect and Pod Lead to serve as an extension of the customers team while delivering best-practice-led engineering and operations services. Responsibilities Serve as a subject matter expert and strategic and technical lead for a team of security engineers and analysts delivering security services to Rackspace customersMentor pod team members both technically and professionallyWork with engagement manager to assign team member work in order to maximize team utilization and achievement of customer objectivesProvide quality and technical oversight to customer engagementsDevelop security architecture frameworks for for public and private cloud environmentsAlign proposed systems, networks, applications, and software designs to security frameworkReview proposed systems, networks, applications, and software designs for potential security risks; recommend mitigation or countermeasuresPartner with customer IT teams to identify and help mitigate security architecture and infrastructure issues and risksResearch security controls, vulnerabilities or interoperability issues, emerging threats and risks, and provide guidance to client IT Teams on effective mitigation strategies and controls.Assist the engagement manager and customer stakeholders in creating, grooming, and prioritizing a backlog of work to ensure customer objectives are being metServe as a consultant to the client in identifying security gaps, aligning to appropriate best practices and standards, increasing efficiency in operations and processes, and leading the pod toward accomplishing customer objectivesKeep up to date on best practices within the industry and how they may be appliedAct as the SME and mentor to other members of the security team Create policies and procedures as neededDevelop IP, tools, processes, procedures, and guidelines to support sustainable growth within Rackspace Elastic Engineering for SecurityAssist in sales pursuits as subject matter expert
 Qualifications and Experience ·       Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field·       12+ years’ experience in the IT Security domain with experience in cloud security·       5 years’ experience in Security Architecture·       At least 2 years’ experience in professional services preferred ·       Experience in at least one and ideally more than one major public cloud provider (AWS, Azure or GCP)·       CISSP,  CCSP certified and/or public cloud certified·       Direct experience with technologies including Firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAFs, SIEM, EDR, DLP, FIM, and cloud native security platforms·       Knowledge in major areas of application architecture and platforms: Microservices, RESTful APIs, logging and monitoring, programming languages, CI/CD, infrastructure, and databases·       Experience building and operating automated security operations·       Experience designing and advising against security requirements to support cloud migration efforts·       Knowledge of threat modeling and risk assessment strategies·       Knowledge of security monitoring and response process, including detecting advanced adversaries, log analysis using SIEM or similar tools, and incident triage·       Strong leadership skills to include communication and presentation, strategic thinking, and accountability·       High attention to detail and strong analytical, organizational, and task management skills·       Ability to communicate effectively with both engineers and business users on architecture vision and security model·       Ability to work remotely – travel is expected to be minimal  About Rackspace TechnologyWe are the multicloud solutions experts.
