Udemy’s Security team is looking for an experienced Security Engineer to assist with the execution and continued development of the Information security program.  The Security Engineer will be responsible for supporting Security Operations in our Production and Corporate infrastructure and reports to the Director of Information Security. The candidate will Integrate security tools and configurations using automation and orchestration solutions. You will also analyze threat and vulnerability monitoring sources to understand current risk and automate response, mitigation, and escalation workflows by contributing code to the bespoke application supporting the automation framework.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Integrate security tools and configurations using automation solutions and code contribution (SOAR)
  •  Work alongside Security teams with participation in code reviews and design discussions
  • Plan, organize, and complete work within agile sprints using common DevOps guidelines, with a heavy focus on testing, CI/CD
  • Provide vulnerability remediation guidance for timely mitigation of application and system weaknesses


  • Possess the ability to contribute custom application code to automate security operations run books.
  • Experience with the following: Infrastructure as Code and Patch management tools, SingleSign-on (SSO), Security Information Event Management (SIEM), SDLC concepts, andVulnerability Assessment tools.
  • Experience working with Cloud Service Provider platforms such as AWS and the tools used to automate day-to-day activities.
  • Minimum two years of experience with web application technologies including HTTP, HTML,CSS, and JavaScript
  • Minimum two years of experience with object-oriented languages, ideally Python.
  • Some experience with application security, penetration testing, defensive programming, or related security areas.
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Experience with testing methods, including unit and end-to-end tests


  • CollegeDegree and/or ISC2, ISACA, GIAC, or other relevant industry certifications, or equivalent work experience
  • Operational experience in a Software-As-A-Service organization
