About the Role:

You will collaborate with our Chief Legal Officer in shaping a high-performing team and defining Panorama’s overall privacy and data protection strategy.  You will lead projects that safeguard our clients’ trust in our privacy and security practices and share progressively expanding enterprise compliance responsibilities as Panorama continues rapid growth.   

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional projects related to data governance, compliance, protection and privacy by design, including program and impact assessments, audits, incident response planning, policy and procedure development and training. One of your initial areas of focus will be to collaborate with company leaders to design and execute a new information privacy program.  
  • Partner closely with leadership across our company to develop a privacy culture, identify and resolve data privacy and other compliance issues at the outset of new product lines, projects and business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the communications, government relations and technology teams in responding to inquiries and requests relating to the company’s information practices and data subject access rights.
  • Advise on and negotiate data privacy agreements.
  • Support strategic business transactions and initiatives, including by conducting privacy and data security due diligence, auditing, certification and attestation.
  • Staying informed and advising the company on current and emerging data privacy laws and regulations

Qualifications and Experience

  • 3+ years of data privacy experience advising on data privacy matters and aligning a matrixed organization to a consistent privacy strategy
  • CIPP (IAPP) or other privacy certification 
  • Substantive knowledge of U.S. privacy laws and regulations, including CCPA, CPRA, COPPA, and CAN-SPAM
  • Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy agreements
  • Experience with data incident response, cybersecurity, privacy, compliance, investigations, and data de-identification
  • Experience advancing projects and change management in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Ability to explain data privacy and compliance issues to business and technology-focused partners and develop practical solutions
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with a proven ability to solve complex compliance issues and articulate sound reasoning
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving with an ability to adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines; works well under pressure and is comfortable working with imperfect information and navigating ambiguity
  • Conscientious and collaborative
  • Growth mindset and intellectual curiosity

Plus Points

  • Knowledge of student data specific privacy laws, such as FERPA, PPRA, SOPPA in Illinois and SOPIPA in California
  • Juris Doctorate and in-house experience scaling business and legal processes and policies for a rapidly growing SaaS company

Base Salary: $135,000 - $180,000

The “Base Salary” range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position across all US locations. The determination of this anticipated Base Salary range involves the consideration of many factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to: unique skill sets, experience, training, performance, licensure and certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. Our anticipated Base Salary determination is just one component of Panorama’s competitive total rewards strategy that also includes annual bonus or commission awards, equity awards, as well as other region-specific health and welfare benefits.
