Job Description

QAD has a position for a Product Manager of its portfolio finance applications who will perform a strategic role and require a set of different skills. The role of a product manager is to be an executive advisor regarding QAD products and product direction that closely works together with stakeholders in Engineering, Sales, and Marketing. A product manager is primarily a team player, adept at managing relationships both inside and outside of the company, collaborating and influencing across a variety of organizational functions.

This position can require domestic and international travel to customer and prospect sites up to 1-2 times per year.

This is a remote position with occasional visits to an office

A successful candidate may work from Spain, Ireland, the UK, France or Poland.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the “messenger of the market” from the outside-in to the rest of the organization.
  • Analyze various market segments and collaborate with leadership to choose the best ones to pursue.
  • Develop product development roadmaps to illustrate vision and plans into the future.
  • Develop and maintain business proposals that make a compelling case for new or continued investment into products.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders such as product marketing on the creation of positioning for products.
  • Manage the entire product line life cycle from sunsetting legacy products to prototyping and testing new features/products and ideas.
  • Drive buy-build-partner analysis, and where necessary, review potential partner relationships for the product.
  • Know why QAD is winning and losing in the market, and drive changes to QAD products and processes to create improvement.
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of the competition, and develop strategies and tactics to reduce the threat.
  • Train and steer product owners so that they can effectively steer Scrum teams in QAD Engineering to develop solutions that can successfully be implemented by customers.
  • Serve as the internal and external evangelist for the assigned product offering, including presenting at both internal or specific customer events.
  • Assist Sales in positioning and convincing customers of the benefits of QAD products via presentations, customer visits and participating in sales calls.
  • Assist Support in case of escalations or customer debates about fit for purpose of the QAD applications. This can require acting as an R&D escalation manager and working directly with an R&D/Support team to resolve the escalation.

Qualifications

  • Relevant bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or computer science.  Advanced degree desirable. 
  • 5+ years of marketing, implementation, sales, or product management experience, specifically in the finance applications area. 
  • Typically a product manager of finance applications , a finance controller with experience implementing ERPs or finance systems, a pre-sales ERP finance engineer, or an ERP finance consultant 
  • Strong finance background is required
  • Relevant experience with ERP or financial software development, implementation, or selling in QAD-selected target markets. 
  • Must be a strong writer and public speaker in front of large, senior groups.
  • Experience with the Pragmatic Institute Product Management Framework is a plus.
  • Tech savvy and passionate about building products.
  • Track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making..
  • Metrics-driven: Strong analytical and synthesis skills are a must, including the ability to absorb and process large amounts of data into actionable information.
  • Familiarity with best practice agile scrum development principles is a plus.
  • Curious and comfortable holding professional conversations with our target buyers, partners, and users.
  • Excellent people and management skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, and third parties.
  • Subject matter expert/industry experience is a strong plus.
  • This position can require domestic and international travel to customer and prospect sites up to 1-2 times per year.
