Job Description

The Trade Compliance Project Manager will implement trade compliance projects that would reduce trade compliance risks to Western Digital.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

· Government/military end-user/user controls design, implementation, monitoring

· Provide support to the global trade operations team in their set-up and continuous improvement of Oracle Global Trade Management (GTM)

· Technology transfer, export classification/NPI, annual and biannual BIS encryption reporting, classification audit, system controls, training, etc.

· Work with various stakeholders such as global trade operations, procurement, supply chain and logistics, product development, engineering, and sales, to understand WD products, end-use and end-users and to develop solutions to mitigate related risks.

· Entity List program management

· Data analysis, risk assessment, risk mitigation

· Sanctions controls support

· Deemed Exports review, licensing application, training & reporting

· Work with IT and/or other relevant stakeholders to develop and implement automated trade compliance processes to mitigate risk and to enable trade compliance group to better manage, analyze, obtain, and collect data relevant for trade compliance functions

· KPI development and reporting

Qualifications

BS/BA degree, graduate degree preferred

· 8+ years of direct trade compliance experience, preferably with the semiconductor or tech industry

· Solid experience managing US Sanctions for a technology company

· Comprehensive knowledge of US export controls with direct experience dealing with listed parties; solid understanding of the US restrictions on semiconductor end use is highly desired

· Proven experience with export classification of technology, software, and hardware, including but not limited to category 5 (encryption) and category 3

· Experience with export licensing, use of license exceptions, compliance agreements & assurances (EUCs etc.)

· Experience conducting trade compliance risk assessments

· Oracle GTM proficiency is highly desired, Salesforce and Model N a plus; tech savvy and comfortable dealing with systems and utilizing technology to address compliance needs; can design processes and systematic controls

· Knowledge of EU, UK and APAC export controls is a plus

· Excellent analytical skills and ability to detect trade compliance risks and vulnerabilities

· Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate technical details to various stakeholders; able to quickly adjust priorities to meet business needs

· Critical thinking, diligence, excellent problem solving and record retention skills; ability to work successfully in a global, cross-functional, multi-cultural team environment

· Ability to learn new and different technologies and stay abreast of emerging technologies; experience working with engineering and R&D teams

· Ability to make good decisions based on sound judgment, able to work independently with little supervision

· Skilled in MS Office suite of products (including MS Teams), productivity and collaboration applications such as SharePoint, Box, Webex

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
