Job Description

We’re looking for a Cloud Security Architect to join our growing team.

This is a new role in which you will be working closely with the product teams to build upon and enhance the capabilities of our existing cloud platform, which powers our consumer products. As part of this role, you will be challenged to understand some key parts of the platform architecture and to propose, design and promote improvements, taking a pragmatic approach and working closely with others to achieve a great outcome

You will also be interfacing with the Global Security Office to identify and manage security issues and technical risks for the platform and solutions. On an ad-hoc basis, you will work directly with development teams, protyping solutions and, where appropriate, contributing and reviewing code and tests.

Qualifications

What we really value is that you have demonstrated an ability to co-create best-in-class Cloud architecture alongside high-performing engineering teams. You’re passionate about building secure products that delight customers.

What we’re looking for:

  • You have strong experience of Cloud Security Architecture best practice within AWS
  • You have an expert understanding of threats faced by UK Financial Services companies, and you can help us build solutions that protect against these threats
  • You are a natural collaborator and mentor
  • You are an approachable technical authority - stakeholders of all levels can go to you for your sage advice and input
  • You prefer a hands-on approach, working with teams to shift-left Security First thinking into the requirements design
  • You love working with product & engineering teams to lead the architectural design for product and platform features
  • You know that the most secure system is one we don’t build at all – so a level of pragmatism is required to balance customer value delivery with security considerations
  • You understand compliance, legislation, and regulations such as UK Data Protection Act 2018 / GDPR and PCI DSS, and broader Information Security Laws and Regulation

Bonus skills – nice-to-have but not essential:

  • When the occasion calls for it, you are happy to roll up your sleeves to write high-quality code alongside the engineering teams
  • You have professional Security accreditation such as CISSPs or SABSA
  • You have experience in FCA-regulated industry
  • You have experience creating and improving internal security standards & policies consumed by software engineering teams
  • You have worked in a large organisation, with a role spanning multiple business units or geographical regions
