In this role, you will work with Engineering and Product Management to help overcome manufacturing challenges, comply with regulatory requirements, and bring safer products to the global market promptly.

What you will learn & achieve: under general supervision, manage the execution and timely completion of engineering projects by analyzing the project scope and determining project specifications, establishing test programs for product investigations, analyzing test programs for adequacy and sequence, examining samples for compliance with physical security industry requirements, and preparing reports.

The Regulatory Compliance Engineer will take the lead to determine the project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine the project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. Projects may include travel to conduct or witness tests at certified test laboratories.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution and timely completion of engineering projects by analyzing the project scope, determining project specifications, establishing test programs for product investigations, analyzing test programs for adequacy and sequence, examining samples for compliance with physical security industry requirements, and preparing reports under general supervision
  • Assist in the testing of UL/ULC/FCC/CE/ROHS/CTICK and other Physical Security industry and regulatory requirements, test methods, and test equipment
  • Determine project scope, develop a preliminary plan of investigation, and determine project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing input, available supplemental data, and product construction
  • Projects may include travel to conduct or witness tests at certified test sites
  • Assist in analyzing and evaluating examination and test results against applicable requirements
  • Use technical judgment to determine whether noncompliance variations compromise the certification's continued application and whether an alternative is achieved
  • Assist in interpreting and analyzing examination and test results against certification requirements, verifying the accuracy of manufacturers’ measuring equipment, and reviewing production and inspection records
  • Periodically review Identivs’ programs of production, inspection, and shipping to ensure products are produced and marked in compliance with certification requirements
  • Evaluates and facilitate options for corrective action where variations from certification requirements are noted
  • Discuss procedures, test methods, test results, sample selection, and variations in products, devices, processes, systems, and materials as necessary to resolve problems, implement changes to existing requirements, or help develop new requirements
  • Use instruments to perform inspections, such as micrometers, voltmeters, ammeters, and other UL-supplied equipment
  • Observes the use of company equipment necessary to meet certification requirements. Confirms proper calibration of measuring equipment
  • Document examination, variations, and test results to appropriate UL forms
  • Maintains logs for scheduling inspections, time, and expenses. Performs various calculations in more than one specific engineering field such as electrical, mechanical, chemical, or fire protection
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of regulatory testing professional work experience
  • Experience working at a certification lab (e.g. UL or Intertek)
  • Ability to cross-sell and understand client business needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and client-interfacing skills
  • Strong technical skillsets
  • General electronics background, and strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams
  • Must be able to travel locally and regionally

Desired Skills/Highly Preferred

  • Technical Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field
  • Field Engineering, Compliance, or Quality Engineering experience
  • Quality Auditing experience
  • ASQ certification

At Identiv, we believe in the importance of pay equity. Your base salary is an important part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. Your salary/compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.

In the spirit of pay transparency, the base salary range for this position is between $80,000.00-$120,000.00 annually.
